One of the easiest things you can do for your health and skin is to drink a cup of luke warm water with lemon in the morning. I’ve been doing it for a few weeks now and I love it. I boil the kettle when I wake up, then put a thick slice of organic lemon into a cup with the hot water (and a bit of cold water to cool it down a little).
I’m surprised that some people think that it tastes yuck. I actually love the taste and am kind of addicted to it now. It’s really fresh and sweet. Maybe the use of organic lemons helps with the taste too, they probably have a lot more flavour without being too sour.

I flicked through this really great book in the bookshop the other day, ‘Dr Joshi’s Holistic Detox’. Has anyone tried it? I’m determined to do a proper food only detox to see if it clears up my acne. And I love how Joshi’s detox allows you to keep eating food. I don’t think I’m one of those people that can go on a ‘juice only for 5 days’ detox or a detox where you fast for a week. I need to eat food. If I don’t, I’ll get hunger pains and cranky and nobody will want to come anywhere near me.
So, I’m considering buying the book and trying it. Possibly between my birthday in November and Christmas, because I know I’ll be eating a lot of foods on those days that would not be allowed in any detox (unfortunately). The only thing holding me back really is the no fruit thing. Fruit gives me so much energy and I love eating it every day. Perhaps I could do Joshi’s detox, but with fruit as well.

I was recently told by a naturopath that my liver eliminates toxins through my skin, which is why I get persistant acne. Not everyone has this problem, some people eliminate toxins through their colon so they can eat as much crap as they want and be exposed to loads of pollution and chemicals and still have beautiful clear skin. I on the other hand break out from the smallest stress on my liver, which includes blood sugar fluctuations, hormonal imbalances (yes this means pmt time girls) and exposure to pollution and chemicals.

If you enjoy eating soggy cardboard for breakfast then ‘The Liver Cleansing Muesli’ by Food for Health Life Food’ is for you.
My naturopath tells me that I have a lot of toxins in my liver (a post about this later) so I bought this muesli thinking yeah, this will be a great way to help cleanse all those toxins out. Until I actually ate it.
I have to give it credit, it is exceptionally healthy. It’s organic, and has no wheat, yeast, fruit, artificial colours, sweeteners, sugar or salt. Hmm, I guess that’s why it has no flavour either.
What it does contain is a heap of different seeds and grains. If you added honey and fruit I think the muesli probably wouldn’t taste that bad. Kind of like how you have to add stuff to porridge I guess.
Whether or not it actually cleanses my liver, well that one I’ll probably never know because I’m not going to be eating this cardboard long enough to find out.
