My Stomach Bug Is Making Me Eat Chocolate

cookies

I’ve been sick with a stomach bug for the past few days which has been a bit yuck. It wasn’t that bad but I felt nauseous the whole time, and was really bloated and tired and sore. One of the bad things about being sick is the last thing I wanted to do was to think about or write about anything healthy, so this blog has been left a bit empty for quite some time!

Even worse, my sore belly made me turn my nose up at everything that I keep in my kitchen. For some reason, my stomach bug made me not want to eat any of my healthy food. All I wanted was sugar, cows milk, white bread, salt, a strong cup of caffeine tea and a piece of chocolate mud cake – none of these items I keep in my house. The site of my organic vegetables made me want to puke and the brown rice, beans and grains in my pantry would have to be forced down my throat. The only healthy food I could just get into me was spelt crackers, apples and oranges.

So, it’s been three days now and my diet has been really, really poor. I’ve allowed my body to eat whatever it can, which hasn’t been a lot. It’s been a lot of toast, crackers and fruit juice, and the occasional pasta, piece of fruit, chocolate and cookies. Today I visited my mum and I knew she’d have all the goods, so I gorged on english tea with cows milk, dark chocolate and choc chip cookies. What I’m most worried about is how this diet is going to affect my skin. My skin has been clearing up beautifully so hopefully this tummy bug sugar binge I had today won’t set me back a little. I figured, just a couple of days of sugar and stuff shouldn’t make a lot of difference :) but I’ll let you know if it does.

My belly is feeling much better today, so hopefully I’ll be better by tomorrow. I’m still turning my nose up at vegetables though. I wonder when I will return to my healthy self!?

Chocolate Is Great For Your Skin

I was reading a book the other day about clear skin and diet. One of the ’super foods’ mentioned, surprisingly, was raw cocoa powder, which is chocolate. Yes, chocolate is packed full of goodies including a heap of antioxidants, protein, omega 3, calcium, zinc, iron and magnesium (which is great for girls with PMT because magnesium is muscle relaxing and stress relieving). In it’s raw form it’s actually a really great food to eat and highly beneficial for your skin.

Swimming Is Bad For Your Skin And Hair

I love to swim laps in summer for exercise. Swimming is great, it increases your cardio fitness really quickly and gently tones every muscle in your body. I swim with flippers which is cheating a bit I know, but I love to go fast and flippers are a great way to easily be a super speedy swimmer.

The problem is, public pools are totally crap for your skin and hair AND a big problem if you’ve got acne.

Chlorine is a heavy chemical that is needed in public pools for hygiene. Trust me, no matter how bad it is for your body you’d much rather have it there just so you don’t get sick from other swimmers nasties …and little kids accidents.

Proactiv Is Bad At Fighting Acne

I’ve been feeling really down about my skin. I’m at the point where I feel as though I’m being uber healthy but it’s not making enough difference. My acne problem is mild but it’s there, and I can notice it and without make up my friends also notice that it’s a significant problem for me.

So, I’ve done what I thought I’d never do again. I’ve started applying chemicals to my face. It’s been a few days now and I have to say, I am going to stick with it for a while.
