This article was written by my friend Clara Myers from Face Natural. Clara knows a ton about natural skin care, so had some great tips about diet and acne that she wanted she share with you
Clara’s also included a recipe for an amazing pore cleaning mask which I’m really keen on trying.

What’s new for acne sufferers? Well, it’s not so much that there’s new information as much as what’s known has been refined. A common myth is that adolescents and young adults get acne because of a diet heavy in sugar- sodas, chocolate, and ice cream for example. Lately, increasingly large numbers of adults way past puberty have been experiencing acne. Obviously, there must be another cause other than sugary foods.
I’ve just spent all morning researching virgin coconut oil and I’ve now formed the opinion that coconut oil is an amazing oil that I wish I’d discovered a long time ago! Virgin coconut oil is fantastic for your skin and for treating acne, taken orally or applied directly to your skin.
For the last couple of days I’ve been using organic virgin coconut oil instead of olive oil in my oil cleansing method (OCM) and the results have been great. I decided to try the different oil because I felt as though the olive oil was clogging my pores a little, even though my acne has cleared up while I’ve been using it. I don’t know exactly what a clogged pore looks like but I’ve noticed that my skin is a little bumpier, and has significantly more blackheads then it used to. I blame this partially on the Maca experiment I’ve just done, but I have a feeling the olive oil may be too thick for my skin type.
I asked my makeup artist friend Nicole Shelley for some advice on mineral makeups - why natural mineral makeups are better than other makeup brands and why they’re so good for acne sufferers. She replied with this article …
Hopefully we’ll be getting a lot of advice from Nic in the future, she has stunning skin!

As our consumer markets shift towards natural, organic and ethically sound options, it is no surprise that the cosmetic industry is following suit, with some huge successes.
I am a makeup artist based in Brisbane, Australia and have been following the mineral makeup trend that is sweeping cosmetic counters. Brands such as L’Oreal and Inglot have all released mineral based cosmetics, in liquid foundation or powder form. Mineral Cosmetics have been dubbed the next big thing in the beauty industry.
Why Use Mineral Makeup?
The minerals used in most forms of mineral makeup are Zinc Oxide, Titanium Dioxide and Iron oxide. Zinc Oxide has been known to have anti inflammatory properties, and Titanium Dioxide and Iron oxide have natural sunscreen capabilities. Continue reading →
I didn’t get a lot of sleep last night because I was out rollerblading with my skating group until really late …then when I finally made it to bed I tossed and turned for hours. Exercise always does this to me, it makes my mind so restless. We went for a two hour skate which was pretty intense, so I’m thinking that maybe since the Christmas break I’m not so used doing cardio exercise anymore. The yoga I do every day has opposite effect, it relaxes me!
So I decided to do an experiment while I had the puffy eyes. I tried the two most common puffy eye bag remedies - cucumber and tea bags. I felt REALLY silly doing the experiment …and yes, I even laugh every time I watch the video, but hey, at least I’ve tried it so I can pass the information onto you
