The topic of skin picking has come up a little more than usual in the blog and forums in the last week, so I thought it was time I did another video on the topic, and to let you know that I’ve finally kicked the habit for good!
If you have this problem and you haven’t gone through the course at www.stopppickingonme.com, I highly recommend it. It’s the first and most important step.
Picking the skin puts you into the “now”, into the present moment which is why it’s so addictive. When I was picking, all my problems just melted away because I was concentrating so intensely on my physical appearance and nothing else.
It’s GREAT to be living in that present moment, but skin picking is a very destructive way to do it. I highly recommend you get yourself a copy of Eckhart Tolle’s The Power of Now because he explains in vivid detail how to get yourself back into that feeling of the present moment without resorting to destructive behavior. Most public libraries will have The Power of Now, so you don’t have to buy it if you can’t afford it.
If you have any questions about skin picking or need support, please write a comment in the box below or in the forums. As I mentioned in the video, this issue is very close to my heart so I’m more than happy to provide support.
And for those of you who haven’t seen the skin picking videos I recorded about a year ago, they’re worth a watch too-
Here’s another “Ask Fran” video. Thank you to everyone that’s been posting to the ask Fran forum, it’s definitely given me a lot to talk about in my videos!
Here are the questions that I answered in this video from sailorjerry007 and masso1234 -
Questions:
I’m using a product by Peter Thomas Roth “Anti Aging Gel Cleanser” it has both salicylic and glycolic (doesn’t give the exact % of each). It’s helping but its giving me this shiny “film” like substance(oil slick) on my forehead about 1 hour after using it and the shiny film stays with me all day. I stopped using the oil free moisturizer and it still happens.
I recently developed a lot of whiteheads and some black heads from using the OCM. I’ve been using a product with .5% salicylic acid and other purging ingredients to help speed things up. Since using it, the size of my whiteheads have gone down, but I’ve also noticed smaller ones popping up. Is this a good thing, like some of the gunk finally coming to the surface, or should I consider using a new product?
And if you want to ask me a question to answer in one of my videos, ask here in the forum.
Yesterday I trialled Live-Live’s natural sunblock. I went for a skate for a couple of hours under the full sun and I didn’t get burnt so it passed the most important test!
It’s also the best natural sunblock I’ve ever used. In fact, I think it works better than some of the chemical sunblocks. This morning I went to the beach and applied my sunblock at the last minute (I KNOW you’re supposed to apply 20 minutes before you’re in the sun but I forgot!). I used Live-Live on my body and Shiseido on my face. My face got burnt but my body didn’t. That’s a pretty good indication that this stuff actually works, and works well.
The Live-Live sunblock is also not thick and chalky like most natural sunblocks are. It spreads easily on the skin and has a subtle orange smell which is refreshingly unique for a sunblock.
I recorded a video review yesterday, along with a few other little bits of important information I discovered about natural sunblocks after a little research -
Everyone I’ve personally showed the Live-Live sunblock to has raved about the texture and gorgeous smell, so it’s not just me that’s loving this product. I only have eight left in my online store so get in quick …if it’s popular I’ll get some more in from Live-Live but it may take a while for my shipment to travel from NYC to Australia.
And of course, let me know if you have any questions that I didn’t answer in my video. And if you’ve found an awesome sunblock too, I’d love to hear about it.
I finally got around to making my own almond milk and I’m so proud of it! This is a photo of my creation and I’m so impressed with how much it looks like cows milk.
I love cows milk but I’m allergic to it and I’m a bit unsure about how healthy it really is for us humans, so I buy oat or almond milk from the health store.
But almond milk in stores is often sweetened which I don’t like, or it’s ridiculously expensive which of course I don’t like either. So today I made my own almond milk which was a little bit messy but actually really easy to make.
I highly recommend making your own almond milk. It’s a fun way to make a very healthy milk alternative. And the added benefit for me is I don’t have to add a sweetener because I prefer the taste unsweetened. But you can add a natural sweetener if you want. You can also choose to make your milk organic by using organic almonds, which of course is what I did.
How to make almond milk
I learned how to make almond milk from watching this awesome video. Take a look -
As I said, I didn’t add the dates because I didn’t think the milk needed it. I don’t eat much sugar anymore so it may be that I no longer need foods to be as sweet.
I’m also yet to invest in a nut milk bag so I just used a stocking (brand new of course). The stocking wasn’t too bad and did the job, but the hole at the opening is very small so it required a bit more dexterity than in Karen’s video. I’d also advise you to squeeze your almond milk into a large bowl, again like in the video. I squeezed mine into a smallish jar which got quite tricky. I had to really aim to get it in the jar!
Now I can use my delicious almond milk to make a chocolate smoothie with cacao, yum.
