Only two more sleeps to go before I open my new coaching program!
It’s been so interesting interacting with everyone in the QuickStart guide that I released last week. It made me realize that no matter how severe our acne is or what age we are or even why we have it, we all come across the same roadblocks along our journey to clear skin.
Here are a couple of roadblocks that quite a few people seem to be dealing with at the moment …
Roadblock 1: Trying to fight a losing battle with our skin
Stop trying to fight against your skin! Our skin is a living organ and it does a wonderful job at healing itself. We want to acknowledge that and support our skins natural healing process by giving it what it needs to heal. Using strong topicals, scrubs and harsh products are kind of like putting up a fight against your skin.
Our body is just doing it’s own thing really - trying to get all the yucky stuff out of your system. One of the ways our body releases that yucky stuff is through the skin. And unfortunately for us, these toxins coming out of our skin society has decided to call “acne” or “pimples” and apparently it’s not socially acceptable to have them. So, we start to fight with our skin and try and beat those spots away by using heavy chemicals and sometimes even becoming obsessed with our skin care routine.
Our poor little skin then starts to freak out and becomes angry and frustrated. It puffs up a little and becomes red, inflamed and a little angry. We then respond by throwing more products and more chemicals on to try and calm it down, when all it really needed was a little love and support!
The absolute best thing you can do for your skin is to learn to love it. Learn to nurture and support the natural process that it’s doing such a good job doing. You can stop all of those toxins from coming out by making sure they’re not going in. You can make your skin look good and glow by treating it with beautiful products and turn your product ritual into something to celebrate instead of something that you have to do to fight against your acne.
Roadblock 2: Not being able to find the right skin care to use
I struggled BIG TIME with this road block. I must have changed my skin care routine every couple of weeks trying to find the best one. My poor skin had to deal with so many different creams, ointments, masks and scrubs being thrown onto it that it had no idea what was going on.
If you find something that works, stick to it! There is no “miracle” cure so don’t assume that you can find something better. If you’re worried that the product you’re using isn’t getting all your makeup off or not exfoliating your skin enough, but it’s doing a good job at healing your acne …then don’t worry about it! A lot of us analyze this stuff and think too much. Once you find something that works, go with it and keep using it.
If you’re having a really difficult time trying to find products that work well for your skin, then follow the video in QuickStart guide step 2.

i totally love this article. recently i have been trying a whole host of new products when my skin already was loving the original products. needless to say, small spots started showing.. so now i’ve switched back to wat works. changing pdts is expensive and can have nasty setbacks and I am trying to love the skin I am in more and more … thks fran u are wonderful!
Have been fighting acne my whole life. Best advice ever. Find what works for YOU and stick with it.
I started using Aubrey’s Organics back in 2000 because my very beautiful chiropractor recommended it. Whenever I try something new I us it for awhile and then eventually go back to Aubrey’s. It is no miracle, but I know the ingredients are clean and it doesn’t cause any acne. I love the oily skin lotion more than any lotion I’ve ever tried. You’ve talked me into sticking with Aubrey’s and work on some other avenues to get my skin clear.
Fran what is your opinion about people who switch their skincare routine every 3-4 months? I heard if you don’t you skin will be too use to it and therefore the product is less effective. Will a more gentle/natural product have a better advantage to this puzzling fact?
