For those of you who watch my videos you may think that I have great skin all the time, but really I don’t. Sometimes I’ll have a spot or two or a scar that I cover up with mineral makeup. In a way I kind of like the fact that I do still get spots occasionally because otherwise I think I’d feel a bit removed from the High on Health and The Clearest Skin Ever community.
Before I started working on the coaching program I remember sitting around with my best friend chatting about it. She asked me what I was going to do if I started to breakout with severe acne … because obviously I can’t be on camera telling people how to clear their acne when I’ve got severe acne myself!
While this did instill a certain level of fear in me on the possibility of that happening, of course I’m quite confident that I will not get severe acne again because I know how to deal with it. However, acne REALLY IS just our body trying to release yucky stuff, either physical or emotional toxins. And sometimes I have some of those so sometimes I’ll get a breakout.
In fact, I just had one!
These past few weeks have been incredibly stressful for me. The lead up to the launch of the coaching program meant that I was working on my macbook all of the time. And as a consequence my diet suffered, partly because I started eating “stress help” food, and partly because I didn’t have much time to be creative with the food I was preparing (lame excuse I know).
So the stress and the toxic food built up a little bit in my system. I ended up with not very nice headaches, fatigue, funky digestive stuff, a thicker than usual coating on my tongue in the morning, and a few spots. All of this just showed me that my body was trying to get rid of some physical and emotional toxins that had built up in my system. My digestive system was working towards getting rid of it THAT way, but my body is always trying to get rid of toxins as fast as possible which means they often come out of my skin as well.
The thing is, when you learn to be intuitive with your body and really read the signs and symptoms that you’re having, then you can’t get stressed about a breakout. Because you know exactly why you’re getting it. I could have totally freakout out when I saw a big spot on my jawline yesterday afternoon. But instead I just thought, oh that’s interesting .. at least that stuff is making its way out!
So, if you experience other bodily functions that lean so heavily towards your body just trying to get rid of toxins AND you know that you’ve been trough either extra emotional stuff or bad eating over the past few weeks, then you’ll know that your breakout is just your body getting rid of those toxins.
It really is very simple when you think about it. And even simpler to treat – the less toxic stuff we put into our body (both physically and emotionally) then the less toxic stuff has to come out!
AND just a reminder, my coaching program does close its doors in just over 24 hours so you’ll need to get in quick if you want to be part of the program. I won’t be opening again for quite some time so now’s your change

I really agree with the way you look at things. Although, I’m 15 I have lots of stress, partially because of acne, and then other areas and situations in my life.
I’m on accutane also [second course] and the first time around my skin cleared up within the first 2 weeks, now, my skin isn’t even as dry as it should be. It’s both dry+oily at the same time…
And the first time, my skin did NOT get worse before getting better, and although my skin didn’t start breaking out with zits all over, I’ve been getting breakouts, especially on my jawline and forehead, is my body trying to tell me something or is this just a coincidence?
Hey there Adelaide-Marie, it’s best to consult your dermatologist on this one
its a bit of a catch 22 if you ask me… yes i have been quite stressed for the past few weeks… because of these random breakouts i started getting all of a sudden! in summer my skin could not have been clearer and just as the pigmentation spots were actually starting to clear, wham! i start getting whiteheads all over which in turn lead to inflammed pimples
Yes, I always get breakouts whenever I’m stressed. I have just joined the coaching program though so hopefully I’m on my way to the clearest skin ever!
Fran truly is an inspiration.
Stress and diet seem to have little to no effect on my spots. Mine is purely hormonal, and I can get random breakouts (such as this week) for no apparent reason. I’m unconvinced about toxins trying to getting out of my body. I’ve been to see a naturopath and have taken a personal concoction of cleansing herbs and Vitex for 2months, and I’ve been off the pill for over 5months and I’m under no stressed and eat very healthily and I still get random breakouts, so there can’t possibly be any toxins left in me. I think where hormones are concerned, it’s almost impossible to identify triggers. Hopefully, time will reverse all the ill-effects of the dreaded pill, because my skin was perfect all my life before I ever took the pill.
Hi Fran,
I think this is all very true! I always seem to have a break out when I’m stressed/my diet isn’t as healthy. I don’t have terrible acne, but I used to – before I went on the pill. But I hate taking it… But I’m too afraid to go off it and have worse skin : (
I’ve tried quitting dairy, but found it only made my skin better for a little while. I think sugary foods, even natural sugars are the triggers to my break outs.
On another note… I just received some Bee Yummy (from you) in the mail! : ) It seems just lovely so far – I was wondering if I should keep it refrigerated or if it’s okay to leave out? Just because it is made from all natural ingredients, I’m worried it will go bad : (
