Can Colonic Irrigation Cure Acne?

I finally gave into my colonic irrigation fear and had a series of three colonics done over three weeks.

And even though I won’t be getting another colonic done again in a hurry (or even at all), I’m glad I did this experiment because colonic irrigation is often said to be one of the best ways to “clear acne”. And I didn’t feel comfortable recommending a treatment to High on Health readers when I hadn’t personally trialled it myself.

So did it work? Watch this video to find out-

Kevin Gianni from Health Renegade has done a great video on colonics which actually shows the same system that was used when I got mine done. It’s definitely worth a look – Are Colonics Good For You?

If you’ve had a colonics experience that you’d like to share (even though it’s a bit icky I know!!) or have any questions for me, let me know in the response box below.

Hi Fran,

Thanks for sharing your experience of colon hydrotherapy.

I had my first of three sessions last Friday and will be spacing them a week apart. I too found it not painful or uncomfortable as the practioner was professional and placed me at ease.

Almost immediately after my colonic, I experienced an intense headached and tiredness. However, the next day I felt great (I felt more like ‘me’ if that makes sense). In the days that have followed I have noticed that I have a lot of energy and that I actually want to put that energy into use by going jogging or walking ! I am also craving healthy and nutritious foods.

I had a colonic four years ago and had positive results. I did not have a single pimple for 6months, I had increased energy, increased attention span, lost 4kgs, and more importantly – felt a higher state of health and well-being which translated to sheer happiness.

I shall keep you posted.

Kris

FYI – was gobsmacked by what literally came out of me (and I’m not even a meat eater!)

Thanks for sharing your experience – you’re right that most people are not comfortable talking about their bowels. :)

Like you, I’m a bit ‘fragile’, and though I’ve had mostly good experiences with colon hydrotherapy, it can be a bit overwhelming (physically & emotionally). I think it’s a great way to detox & cleanse, but some of us require a bit gentler handling, and can’t necessarily rely upon them as our sole method of cleansing. It’s not the only way to detox the colon, luckily. I find other, less dramatic approaches can be just as effective, they just require patience.

I agree with you that other, sturdier body types are likely to have notably different experiences. :)

Hey Fran! Thanks for the article! Do you mind me asking what came out of your colonic? And did it get rid of your Candida overgrowth? You’re a healthy eater, so were you surprised at what came out of your colon?

Hi Renee, good question. She said there was a bit of yeast that came out but not loads. The main things were, I’m not digesting my food properly and I’m dehydrated. The first time I went in she also said that I was constipated – even though I’ve never had constipation in my life! Apparently the dehydration can clog things up a bit internally like constipation even though you feel as though you’re having regular bowel movements. It’s a bit confusing.

Hi Fran,
I’ve had two done (and am also very skinny), but decided to stop because i would experience a lot of depression afterward. my dr. also did not rub my belly, or tell me anything about what was coming out of me. i didn’t notice it helping my acne either.

I am so glad you documented this. I had an enema last week at the hospital as I needed to have a camera inserted to check the health of my colon. Luckly everything was fine. What I did notice though is that my skin brokeout the following day. Do you think was related to the enema? I thought it was due to a tea tree oil and zinc oxide ointment that had caused my skin to dry out become blocked leading to pimples. Now I am wondering whether it could have been the test upsetting some points in the colon? x
