I’m learning that caffeine is not good for acne. Does this mean that the caffeine in the cacao beans should be avoided? Is there a significant amount that should concern us? If so, is there any way around this hurdle?
Thanks
Fran you were so right about not using soap on your back! I don’t really have body acne at all but from time to time I’d get a few blemishes on my back/shoulders. For the past few weeks I took your advice and haven’t really used soap on my back – I just let the water in the shower run over my back for a long time to clean it. Now my skin is back to normal and actually feels cleaner and less clogged
I don’t think I could go soap free on my chest/back. I get pimples there, but I also use hair conditioner, so if I don’t wash my back after I rinse the conditioner, my skin feels a bit…slimey. But I also use an all-natural body wash from Green Beaver (a local, socially aware company) and exfoliating gloves from the Body Shop.
Witch Hazel helps my body acne, but it still appears. Hoping it will go away in the summer!
Jill why dont you try a body wash instead of soap? It’s nowhere near as drying.I use St.Ive’s body washes, all of which leave your skin moisturized afterwards but not for too long.Still, it’s better than soap.
Roey- I heard either truth calkins or david wolfe answer this question once. But I think the caffeine is cacao beans is okay ..however they can be quite stimulating so I avoid them in the evening.
Ana- AWESOME!
Jill- That’s okay, you can use a cleanser. But are you exfoliating your back every day? That’s the key.
Great post, Fran, thank you! I try and drink green tea in the mornings instead of coffee, and in the evenings I drink “Skin Purify” by Dr. Stuart’s. (www.drstuarts.com) I can’t really say how well it works as it’s not the only thing I do for my skin, but it is caffiene free, so a good alternative to Green Tea, and it tastes nice. The site says it’s available in Aus.
On a more concerned note – I know you blogged about it a while ago but good grief, you look thin. I do hope you’re ok. You seem healthy and full of beans though, I suppose that’s the main thing!
