Can Proactiv Cure Acne?

When I sat down to talk about Proactiv and why it only sometimes works at clearing acne, I had no idea that it would turn into such a big video that I had to cut it into two parts.

This is an important video series to watch if you’re considering using Proactiv, or even if you’ve used it before and are wondering why it did or didn’t work.

Hey Fran, It feels as if we’re in the early stages of your blog again with the proactiv video.I think the last proactiv video was more fiery and more hardcore cause you did manage to persuade some of your readers to not use proactiv.
I think this is the first time that I dont agree with you cause you said that we can use the holistic natural way to cure acne and at the the same time use bp.But then that just destroys the whole purpose that you introduced to us about using the natural way. These 2 vids kind of sounded as if you got one bad letter from the company of proactiv cause you gave them the thumbs down in your last proactiv vid.I think that now its gone past the question of if we want to cure our acne to rather how do we want to cure our acne by natural or non natural ways?

Sorry if it sounds like I’m rambling on but I felt as if you were actually defeating the whole purpose of your five star blog on curing acne the natural way.

I love this article fran! Please disregard to that comment made by Kevin. I understand where you are coming from. Acne sometimes can’t be cured naturally because it’s different for EVERY person. Sometimes using OTC BP works 110% better for one person than it does for someone using natural alternatives and vice versa. I think by defending both sides, Fran is a genius. She is simply stating the different ways you can tackle acne.

Hi Kevin, as usual - thanks for your comment.

I’ve realized with the volume of readers that I’m getting to this blog, that I can’t be biased in any way. Yes I strongly feel that the natural way is the better way, and I still said in the video that it’s essential that you treat your acne holistically (otherwise it will just come back).

However, I just can’t ignore the fact that there are some people out there who disagree with using natural methods only and they still need help, so I wanted to give them an insight into why they may pick up this proactiv product and why it possibly doesn’t work or makes their skin worse. Or why they’ll use it and it’ll work really well for just a couple of years and then stop working.

Especially for some of the young adults out there, the 12 & 13 year olds, who get teasing at school, get depression from their skin, and who I think would have a really tough time watching their diet at that young age unless they have strong parental support.

Anyway, I just wanted to be unbiased, and if I got a letter from Proactiv I wouldn’t mention that it can cause premature aging and cancer!! But thanks so much for your response and I’ll re-consider a similar approach I take in the future :)

Oops, I seemed to have offended some people.Sorry bout that to everyone but I do get to have my own opinion.I’l try to put it another way.I remember all the articles from the pink healing crystal to the chart that tells you why you breakout in the different areas of your face and I think that Fran has always been trying for us to take a natural approach to clearing up any problems you may experience wth your skin.So it just felt a bit odd that she was talking about proactiv from a different point of view since normally everything is about being natural and she was actually saying that it can work, cause It does btw, I used it a while back and it helped.SO I disagreed cause I thought Fran was actually saying that we should give proactiv a go and put it above natural treatments but as she explained in the above comment she was just giving an unbiased opinion.
Totally ignoring the “disregarding” comment,Fran you dont need to re-consider the approach I was just giving my opinion. You already know how awesome your blog is so dont re-consider a thing.
Just a quick thing I wanted to add, you share alot of the same thoughts with Dr.Gillian McKeith.Cause 80% of her book”You are what you eat” agrees with your blog. :)

oh no, no kevin ..of course you didn’t offend anyone :) And I love it how you point stuff like that out, because I WANT to hear what people think.

And thank you for your comment too James, you clarified my approach exactly.

Yeah, I love that “You are what you eat” book. My sister gave it to me a couple of years ago for chrismas :)

I think aside from your book you should tell us if you find or have read any books that you think are really good.It could be like your own little borders on the blog. :)

Yeah, Proactiv worked for me in the beginning but after a few months my acne came back. Using it again just made my skin worse - dry, irritating, and itchy.

hey Im a 19 guy and I’ve always been using BP, but I’m kinda lazy so it’s on and off and it works okay I guess, but after a lot of reading on your website and around, I THINK I might stop using BP.

I have oily skin and I’m I use cetaphil as a cleaner but now I’m trying to find some sort of alternative to BP to get rid of my acne and blackheads..

I think the resources on this site are great but not really for oily/teen skin.
