Over the last few weeks I’ve been testing using salt (both sea salt and himalayan crystal salt) and honey as my facial cleanser.
Both have been great! I especially love honey because it’s moisturizing, soothing, very naturally anti-bacterial and extremely cheap (unless you use manuka honey of course).
Ps- What I forgot to add in this video is that honey has a pH of 3.2-4.5 which is relatively acidic. In my opinion this makes it even better to use as a cleanser because it is matching the natural acidic nature of our facial skin.
It’s also important to note that the skin of our face and neck is generally the most acidic of any skin on our body, because of this natural “acid mantle” or natural protective combination of oils, sebum and sweat (sounds a bit yucky but really it’s wonderfully protective and our skin does a great job at producing this perfect balance of protective stuff).
I bought this cream because I was just finishing up on writing my acne scar treatment guide and wanted to see if something like this would actually work. And I guess it did, but not as “magically” as I’d hoped.
Rosa Scarless Healer Cream gets 3.5 stars out of 5 because I did notice a difference. When my scabs or old acne healed it left a lighter pigmentation scar than usual. The ingredients are also amazing. It’s basically just aloe vera, calendula and st Johns wort which are three of the best and most amazing natural healers this planet has provided to us. So it’s wonderful to find a mix of the three in a convenient little jar.
The cream didn’t get the full 5 out of 5 stars because it’s a real pain to use. It’s moist and a little sticky so will rub off onto your pillow at night. It’s also a darkish brown color so very obvious on your skin if you’re wearing it out and about during the day. If this review was for general wound healing then it would probably get a full 5 out of 5, but for facial application it’s not so easy. For daytime application it’s more discreet applying aloe and/or papaya gel which can both be clear.
This blog post is really difficult to write. It’s difficult because over the last few days I’ve been on a huge and rather tempestuous emotional journey. This journey is particularly personal so you’d think I’d keep it to myself, but I made the conscious decision yesterday to write about my experience. I made this decision because I feel that you may relate to my story and perhaps even gain further insight into certain aspects of your own life.
As you probably know from previous blog posts, I launched myself into another cleanse roughly two weeks ago. I had little to no preparation leading up to the cleanse. It was actually something my boyfriend at the time and his close friend were planning on doing, so I guess I got caught up in their enthusiasm. All I really knew about the cleanse itself was that it was a raw vegan Candida cleanse. I’m high raw anyway and enjoy being raw vegan, had wanted to do a Candida cleanse for a couple of years, and prefer cleansing with others, especially my lover. I also have roughly three months before I head off to the US for an extended trip (3 months is the duration of the cleanse) and it’s preferable to do a Candida cleanse after a colon cleanse which I’d just done so it seemed like the perfect cleanse to do with the perfect timing.
Before I begin my story I just want to point out that this post may also seem a little odd considering I raved about the cleanse in my last couple of videos. Well, my journey over the last two weeks will explain everything … Continue reading →
As you can see I haven’t been updating you as much on this cleanse, and that’s partially because this is the third big cleanse of mine this year so I feel like I’ve bored you already with my cleansing stories. It’s also because in comparison to the Arise And Shine detox, I don’t actually feel like I’m cleansing this time at all. Apart from the occasional frustration with not being able to eat certain foods (such as fruits, cashews, tamari and loads of carrots ..I miss you!!) it’s all been a little too easy.
I guess the hardest part has been making enough fun food, because for me food really needs to taste good and be a bit of a novelty. The best dishes I’ve made so far have been a coconut macadamia porridge, and a “roast” tomato soup. Both were quite simple to make, only contained a few basic ingredients, were phase 1 friendly and I’ll absolutely make them again.
I’ve also been saved by nut mylks with cacao and xylitol. The first thing I make in the morning is a big mug of warmed up nut mylk cacao. I actually look forward to it. And it’s perfect at this time of the year because it’s getting cold in Brisbane.
I’ll be blogging a lot more over the next few weeks about my relationship to food. This cleanse has been a huge journey of self discovery for me so far. I was even thinking today that I could write on a book on my experiences over the last couple of years titled “My Journey To Self Discovery Through Food”. Honestly, my life feels like that sometimes!!!

Oh this is a situation that absolutely none of us want to get into! I had an unfortunate incident last week while I was testing out new recipes for the most amazing spot treatment ever. Unfortunately I found the most unamazing spot treatment which happened to be too strong for broken skin and inflammations. It ended up burning my skin and leaving a big ugly scab … right in between my eyes!! Oh it was a horrible disaster. But at least I got to find out the fastest way to heal a scab (so you can beautifully cover it up with makeup).
This method healed up my scab in around 4 days. Check it out-
