Over the past two months I’ve finally after almost 32 years of age started to fill out and put on a bit of weight. This is an absolute blessing for me because I’ve always been typically underweight and craved having more feminine curves. And while I’m not quite at “voluptuous” just yet, I’m loving the feeling of my fuller and more Earthy body. It did take me about a month to get used to it, but now I’m loving it and kind of want to see how far it goes.
In this video I also give a couple of tips on how to get rid of cellulite. I had it even when I was thinner but I have a little more now so I’m working on shifting it. Don’t beat yourself up if you have it too! 95% of women have it – it’s just the way we store fat. More in the video..
A big welcome to our newest writer Casey Loraine. Apart from being another red head (which automatically makes her awesome), Casey is super in the known about raw food and kooky alternative health stuff which is why of course she has climbed on board with us. Casey has started her High on Health journey with a three part series on how she treated her own severe acne. Here is the first article of the series, enjoy!

I know all about having uncomfortable and unsightly skin conditions which make you feel ugly and self-conscious. I know how red bumps, lumps and rashes make you want to hide away from all contact with the outside world to avoid another stare, comment, look of horror or sympathy.
For most of my life I was covered with severe and debilitating eczema from top to toe. Think bleeding, itchy and excruciatingly painful rashes all over my body. Yuck and depressing is right. For over 25 years I used steroids daily in an attempt to manage the angry red rashes, which only weakened my immune system and made the next bout of eczema that much worse.
Finally, after experimenting with natural therapies and diets of all kinds for a decade, I found my way out of that cycle of pain and misery. I found a way to manage my eczema naturally and to reduce the symptoms significantly without relying on drugs. Not only do I now know how to manage my health to prevent and reduce eczema breakouts, I have turned my life around in every way imaginable. My health physically, mentally, emotionally and even spiritually has reached whole new heights.
I offer my experience here so that you know that you too can be free of the misery that comes with poor skin health. I’ve been there and come out the other side, and I have worked with countless clients to help them do the same. No matter what kind of skin condition you suffer from, whether it’s acne, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, hives, fungal infections or any other kind of symptom, there is a way to make it better naturally, and even get rid of it entirely.
Below I share with you the first three of my top tips to get beautiful, healthy skin, no matter what symptom you are experiencing. The rest of the tips will come in Part two and three of this series. Everyone’s skin is different but these tips all work to detoxify your body and improve your health at a cellular level – so that your skin mirrors your vibrant inner health.
I have this weird little love of being able to eat whatever I put onto my skin. As most of you know, I cleanse my skin with honey and occasionally use it as a mask while I’m lying in the bath. I kind of like how when I accidentally get some on my lips I know I’m eating something yummy and super nutritious for my body!
So my bathroom cabinet doesn’t look too different to my kitchen pantry. In fact, you’ll always find jars of honey, salt, fresh aloe vera, sesame oil and organic essential oils in both rooms. I love playing around with my ingredients and coming up with new face masks to use on my skin. It’s actually pretty easy. Just gather together a bunch of non-comedogenic ingredients then go crazy. Make any combination that you feel is great.
Here is one example of a great recipe that’s perfect for oily skin and even better for getting rid of comedonal acne. The aloe vera contains natural salicylic acid and the fruits contain alpha-hydroxy acid, which are both good for exfoliation. Basically this recipe will give your skin a good scrub out while you’re having a great time lying around with a mix of yummy food on your face ;)
Mix all ingredients together then spread onto your skin avoiding the eye area. You may want to lick the bowl! Leave on for as long as you can, but at least 20 minutes is enough for your skin to thank you.
I have a lot more recipes like this on the “home spa” page in the High on Health members site. Click here to sign up…
I’ve recently had quite a few compliments and questions about my hair and my hair routine, which I find quite humorous considering just the other day I was watching a video of mine and thinking how wild my hair was looking and how desperately overdue I was for a hair cut!
So for those of you who were complimenting, thank you for thinking my hair is looking great, and not at all like a crazy lions mane which is kind of how I’ve been referring to it lately.
And for those of you who were asking, here is my very basic hair routine-
I mix up my shampoo and conditioner quite a bit, but I always end up going back to my all time favorite brand that never fails to make my hair look fantastic. I actually wrote a blog post about the brand, Giovanni, a little over a year ago while I was living in Canada. I’d just finished up with a very expensive brand of shampoo that you can only buy at the hair salon, and I decided to go back to my trusty Giovanni. My hair responded beautifully straight away, as usual. It made me wonder why I bothered with the store bought expensive brand in the first place. AND Giovanni is a natural product.
To be honest, I don’t do too much else to it. I wash my hair every second or third day in the morning, and air dry it, unless I need to go out then I’ll point a hair dryer at it but won’t bother doing any “blow dry” styling. I do have a product that I use if I am using a hair dryer which helps prevent that frizzy or brittle look from using too much heat. It’s a chemical product though so if you ONLY like using natural products then this one isn’t for you. But I don’t use it on my scalp, only on my hair so I’m not too worried about it. It’s from Redken and it’s called Heat Protective. I’ve had one bottle for AGES now and it really does last a long time. Or that may be because I’m so lazy with my hair and only remember to use it every other blow dry. Continue reading →
I was surfing YouTube last night and stumbled across this video. It’s awesome. It shows how quick and easy it is to touch up photographs in Photoshop.
What I love about this video is how it’s a great lesson for us perfectionists to stop spending so much time standing 2 inches away from the mirror and examining every tiny little detail of our skin. Remember – perfection is rare, if not impossible.
This video was created by a young girl for a school project (damn she’s good though), so even though it’s a great demonstration on how many improvements you can easily make to a photo in Photoshop, I still don’t think the after shot looks that great.
It did however make me wonder why I hadn’t used Photoshop on my photos before!!? I kind of feel like it would be cheating with me considering the topic of my blog so don’t worry, I won’t be touching my images up. Although I am going to take the teeth whitening tip because I have fluridosis damage on my teeth so I’m very embarrassed about the color of them. I figured that’s my teeth not my skin so it should be okay …
