Discover How Eating Chocolate Can Help Prevent Acne And Wrinkles

This video is REALLY cheesy in the beginning but it’s worth it to keep watching. It explains in good detail why raw cocoa is so good for you and how it can even help your skin.

cocoa-bean.jpgI disagree with them when it comes to eating chocolate three times a day to improve your health. I think ‘healthy’ chocolate can be added to your diet, sure, but using it as a supplement seems a little strange. Unless of course your naturopath orders it :D

There are a few brands like this popping up. When searching for a healthy chocolate all you need to do is check that the cocoa is cold compressed and that it does not contain refined sugar.

It’s important for the cocoa to be cold compressed because this ensures it keeps all its nutrients. Most cocoa powder is heat extracted (up to 150 degrees celsius) with solvents from low-grade chocolate bean varieties resulting in a bitter, oxidized product chocolate-hearts.jpgthat has very little if any health benefits. Cold compressed cocoa has 360% more antioxidants than regular cocoa, and is packed full of nutrients that are good for both your body and your skin.

Happy chocolate shopping!

Hi Jon, I’m glad you like my blog :)

Most health food stores should stock raw cold compressed cocoa powder, any brand will do.

As for the actual chocolate, you’ll need to do a search on the net for that. This is the Australian brand that I found that sells ‘healthy’ chocolate. But I have to buy it online:

I usually just buy green & black organic dark chocolate. It has good quality cocoa, is organic (so chemical free), fair trade and has only a small amount of sugar because it’s dark chocolate. In moderation it’s great!

Hi Fran! Thanks so much for your advice. Maybe my acne will actually go away!! :) I’m gong to try this dark chocolate thing. But I have a few questions as well. Do you know of any masks that help? I heard if you put honey on your face it helps, but I don’t really want a sticky face :P One more thing I was wondering: Someone once told me that if you drink LOTS of water everyday, then it’ll help clear up your acne. I have been drinking 8 glasses (I know its alot) of water each day, and it seems to be working a little. Do you suggest to keep drinking the water, or is there an easier way? Thanks! You rock ;) :P

Hey Fran! I’ve been following your blog for a while now, but I have a question about chocolate. I probably drink three cups of coffee a day… but I make them mochas. 1/3 cup milk, 1/3 cup hot chocolate mix, and 1 cup coffee. After finding out how bad the chocolate I use is, and how GREAT raw cacoa is, I’m going to swap it out. Is 3/4 cup (total for a day) too much chocolate for me to consume? I’m also going to switch out the cow’s milk for almond milk (I’m going to try and make it myself, we’ll see how that one goes!).

Anyway, just wanted to know if 3/4 cup is too much. It’s the only time I ever eat chocolate, but I would hate to give it up… cause I am so addicted to my mochas.

Thanks!

Oh and how long does almond milk last when made by yourself?

Keep up the good work!

It wouldn’t let me edit… and I made a big mistake! I use 1/4 cup chocolate in each. So 3/4 cup for one day is correct.

Thanks again.

Kit- That much cacao each day is definitely fine! And almond milk will last in the fridge for about 5 days.

Fran, is it ok to use cacao powder to make hot chocolate? Or will the heat oxidize the chocolate?
