I’m looking for a few fabulous people who’ve managed to either clear their skin completely or are well on the way to “recovery” to share with me how they did it.
While I’m confident I can work with all of you to get you on your way to clear skin, I really am just one girl so I can only blog about my own experiences …which is why hearing from others that have done the same is so valuable. And not only will your story help me out with the blog a lot, but of course it will help many others to clear their skin too.
Following success stories and case studies is also a good way for acne sufferers to know that achieving clear skin is possible.
And in return for helping me and High on Health out, I’m happy to personally offer you (for free) any skin care or health related advice that you may have, which is a service I normally charge for.
If this is you I’d love to chat with you! Send me an email at: support@highonhealth.org

Hey Fran! My name is Brett and I would like to say yes that is me ! I have cleared my acne! , My acne ( touchwood ) is finally clearing after several months with acne!. Over the months it became worse , then went better but then , again got worse. It drove me absolutley insane! And even if the acne was only mild or moderate it still is a horrible thing to deal with. Bassically , i tried to use all the chemical products , salicilic acid , benzoyl peroxide etc and yes , maybe it would clear the acne for a while but soon came flooding back , worse than before. So i decided to try natural remedies like you and tried the different things that were naturally sourced and were free of any chemicals. At first , i didn’t like the natural things as i clearley thought it couldn’t clear acne. I tried things , but never really gave them time. I never really went for a product to my specific acne , i would just hunt things and get them , expecting them to work magically. However finally i found my saving grace ( touchwood ) for m acne. After months of using chemicals , and loads of products not suitable , i decided to go for plain warm water. At this point i was totally beyond belief that my acne would go. However , after researching and finding out about causes of acne and things , i decied to throw everything away , start fresh , no chemicals , just water and a chemical free moisturiser with no oil. So after the first week , nothing happened and of course iwas expecting immediate results. However as i gave it time my skin would start to clear. Not drammatically , but i could just see with one glance my skin was better. Also , i decided to take up some vitamins , supplemets and other things , that i could take , to treat my acne , internally. To this day my acne is clearing , i do still have traces of it and everytime isee new pimples forming i get more and more worried , however i am now just leaving my skin alone and it is fine. Here is my overall routine :
Morning : Take one multivitamin , wash face with warm water to open the pores up , then cold water to close the pores. Then and oil free , natural moisturiser , ( not moisturising the acne . I decided on this because iwanted the acne to dry up ) , Then i will have breakfast . I’m bad with brakfast as i have waffles with nuttela! However i then have a glass of water , followed by either an apple or banana. Then to finsih off i take a pro+prebiotic to help support the good bacteria inside. And of a night , i wash with warm water , then cold , no moisturiser as my skin will become dependant on it and thats it!.
I’m not suggesting a miracle cure but this is the way i cleared my acne !. Overall i can’t think what the product has been that cleared my acne. I think after exposing my skin to so many chemicals , it needed a break so eventually it cleared. To this day my skin is clearing (touchwood ) and pimples are reducing ! So thankyou for letting me write this novel and im very sorry about how long this is! Best wishes Brett
Hi Fran,
Unfortunately my skin never cleared up, so I just sopped thinking about it.
My acne is stress related and although I try to do relaxing excercises, my stress levels seem to get higher by the minute.
I tried the bee yummy moisturiser and my acne got worse, specially on my neck, so I stopped using that.
I don’t eat healthy enough due to the anxiety produced by my work, and I haven’t been doing excercise either.
I have a lot of dark spots, scars and quite a few pimples which are relentless.
At one point I started using Clinique’s dramatically diferent moisturising GEL. And it work a lot the first weeks, then it stopped clearing, and I have just about the same amount of acne, but a softer skin.
The only thing I do is wash my face every time I get home (3 to 5 times) with cold water. And at night I wash it and put a little amount of GEL and that’s it.
I tried to stop poking at my face but it’s a habit very hard to break, altough it has diminished a lot.
I figured that if my stress levels were getting higher and my eating habits worse I would have to just live hapily ever after with my acne.
I saw the documentary “Food Matters” and I it was amazing, although it seemed more like an advertisement.
But I live in a country where we are unable to eat organic foods or find raw prepared food in the supermarket, and making my own recipes requires a time that I dont’t have at the moment.
So, sorry for the bad news, and hope I helped in your research.
Cheers!
Hey Fran!
My skin isn’t completely clear, but it’s been clearing up alot! You where right about sticking with one product, at a time. Let your skin get use to the product. Unfortunately the cleanser/make up are not natural but I am using very little amount. I also learned that you can not cure acne by diet alone. It takes more then just eating healthy.
In my opinion, to clear up acne it takes, Diet, exercise, stress reduction, good amount a sleep, healthy digestion, fresh air and sun shine. Since I was eating very well and exercise frequently, I just needed to follow the other things.
I do admire Brett, for only washing his face with luke warm water. I would do that myself, but I wear make up. I notice that my break outs have been less and only around my mouth or places where my skin is very dry.
My skin care routine is am phisoderm senitive skin cleanser. ( only a dime amount and wash it off very quickly). I think in the mornings I’m not going to use anything. Pat dry, then I used Lorea mineral powder make up. Then I used phisoderm senitive skin cleanser again and a spot treatment. I know I should be using a moisterizer but every moisterizer I have found has broken me out. One day I’ll dry Bee yummy moisterizer.
Hi Fran!
Just saw your video on Youtube…
First and foremost I love reading your blog, I think you’ve been a help to so many out there and I want to thank you for taking your time to share your knowledge with us. =)
I suffered with acne for a while…and although I still get the occasional break out every now and then i’d say for the most part, i’ve managed to control it.
My skin isn’t perfect, but it’s better than it ever was before.
I started using the Bee Yummy Skin food you had mentioned earlier…I thought it was amazing how honey was one of the ingredients that was helping my skin get better….so I did a little more research on it and acctually started using Pure Honey as a mask on my face for about 15 minutes every night.
Amazingly, my skin started to clear up. All i did was use about a tsp of honey…heated it slightly in the microwave for about…5 seconds(literally) and spread it evenly on my face. I then rinsed it off with warm water, mousturized and went to sleep.
(For anyone who is reading this, I really suggest you give it a try.) It might feel a bit tingly when you first put it on, but I guess that’s the honey doing it’s job. Lol.
It has got to be pure honey though, can’t be flavored honey, or any of that other stuff.
Another product I have found to be working well is Tea Tree Oil. I use it as a spot treatment whenever I have any breakouts and it seems to be working wonders.
Not only is it clearing my acne, but the scars I had seem to be clearing up as well.
=D
Anyway, hope this helps some of you who seem to have tried everything.
Love & Light,
-V
First of all hi, my names is Jose Luis, I’m 21 years old… Well, my acne problem started when I was 20 i guess, before that I’d never experienced acne breakouts nor anything like that, just 1 or 2 pimples every now and then… but since I enter to college I noticed that I was starting to get more breakouts more often each time, but nothing to be alarmed about.
It all started to get worst month after month, now I was having a lot of affected areas, huge pimples (you know the ones who get like purple and hurt), the most ironic thing it’s that I’ve always been very careful with my skincare, my diet, my looks (I sometimes work as a model).
So when I started noticing all this breakouts I freak out completly. Like I have read in a lot of blogs, and heard in your videos I got absorbed by this… I would spend hours in front of the computer looking for something that it would take my acne out right away but really, it got to the point of an obsession, I tried a lot of things at the same time, sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t; I didn’t feel comfortable with other people cause I felt that everyone was looking at my pimples, there were times that I didn’t even want to go to school because I felt my acne was so gross, spent hours in the mirror looking over and over again to my pimples and I became totally miserable about it, cause everytime I looked in the mirror a new pimple was threatening to cme out…
That’s when I started to watch your videos, and to follow your advices, at first I tried to do everything at once, I modify completly my diet, I stopped drinking, I used most of the products you recommend, etc etc. And I started to notice a few changes in my face… but sincerely it was to much, and if I was obssesed I became a maniac with all this, I mean, i would only eat certain type of food, avoid the milk, the cheese, any fat food like pizza, and it was totally awful, I felt I couldn’t do anything and all that skin routine was driving me crazy, cause like I told I tried a lot of things at once, the vitamins, the cleanser, etc etc. there were times when I spend about half an hour just doing stuff to my face hahaha, so yeah, I got a result, i got clearer skin, but had a really hard “acne free procedure and diet” and anytime I eat something like a slice of pizza or a hamburger I couldn’t take of my mind the idea that because of that I was going to have a breakout, and everytime I got a new pimple I would blame the fact of eating this, or doing that.
Well finally after a long path I saw the light, I followed your tips and some others and started taking things easy, as I use to, I clean my face in the morning when I wake up, after I come back from school and before I go to bed, I use a light cleanser and a moisturizar for my type of skin and a light peroxide benzoyl cream 3 times a week. I stopped all the insane treatment routine and the diet, and started eating again all the food I want again, with moderation, as I did. Now my skin is back to what it was, clear and healthy =)
So my advice is, take it easy, don’t let it absorb you… In my attemp to get rid of acne I only made it worse by all the stress, the products, etc etc.
I know what it feels like to have acne, and if you spend every minute of your time thinking about it, it would be a living hell…
Hi fran,
. did you know that Miessesnce now carries a warehouse in Nevada, U.S its awsome i got my package in about 3 days shiped to FL. but any ways my skin is not clear yet, but i know its only going to get better, thank you so so much for introducing me to a more natural, gentle way of treating my skin and the way i go about food!
My name is Lucy and i am 20, yeah i thought that by this age i wouldnt be suffering from acne, but unfurtunatly this happens to be the case, about 8 months ago i started to notice a couple of pimples here and there, and i would be like ok its prob only a temporary thing, but little did i know that it would escalate and get worse, i was going nuts, and so i turned to the internet and did some research went on to youtube and found out about the acne practice at home bootcamp products, i was so desperate to clear my acne instantly i ordered it, i spent heaps of money on the products i used them for a good 6 months, and they did just what i expected, they gave me Instant gratification, cleared my skin up pretty nicely….Until of course around mid march i woke up one day and noticed tiny little bums along my cheeks all in cunjuction with one another, its was horrible like a patch of tiny little army pimples along my cheeks and some others scatterd here and their, it was horrible i remember looking into the mirror and just wanting to cover my facce with a bag and walk around all day hiding from everyone, (this sucked especially for me because, i work with people and turists and its quite humiliating) and so i went to the drugstore of course and completely changed my skin care routine bought clearisil whith some weird chemical names, im telling you i was desperate, i started to cry in the bathroom once, and then i realized hmm…. maybe this is just a blessing in disguise as odd as it might sound, its a new way for me to look at this problem from a different angle, and so i came across your youtube account and this blog, and its a godsent, its change the way i go about my skin care routine the things i eat. so now i can say that my skin is doing a much better job, i use a gentle face wash (cetaphil) morning and night, a good moisturizer (beeyummy skin food) and clay mask (miessence mineral clay mask for oily/problematic skin) and of course i had to try the miessence spot treatmet gel
Lucy
Hi Fran!
I just thought I would contribute; hopefully it will be helpful to someone. I’m not 100% clear, but my acne is a ton better. I think I have cosmetic acne, and my trick has been to lay off the makeup. I had a bunch of tiny bumps, not really inflamed acne, but it was still just as annoying because it felt like it covered every inch of my face. After doing a lot of research on your site and other places, I pretty much decided that the only way to make it go away was to use WAY less makeup. It was really difficult at first because I felt so self-conscious knowing that I had a bunch of bumps that were out there in the open for everyone to see. After a couple of months though, I can tell a HUGE difference in my skin. It’s mostly clear now, just a few bumps here and there. My skin care is short and simple. I mix baking soda (amazing!!) with my cleanser at night. In the morning I use a cleanser with salicylic acid, and then an oil free moisturizer with SPF. I’ve recently started trying a mixture of apple cider vinegar with water as a toner at night as well. If you live in a humid climate, this helps with the oil so much!! I’m still looking for a makeup that my skin can handle, so if anyone knows of anything super gentle, let me know! I hope this helps someone! Sorry for writing a book!
Hey Fran, hey everyone! Yep, I can safely say I’m on the road to clear skin–my dermatologist says my skin should be about 80% clear by August. =) Right now I have one or two odd pimples and several ’scars’ (they just look like pink spots, they arent raised or indented or anything) which are getting better by the week. So, HOW? Well, I am a huge natural health fan, honestly I am, and I agree with much of what you say Fran about the importance of a natural, holistic approach to good health and clear skin. BUT after suffering from three years of steadily worsening skin, and trying everything natural and commercial and herbal and medicinal, I turned to Oratane (roaccutane) and it has worked wonders for me. I’ve only been on it for 2 months and already my skin is significantly improving. The only side effect I’ve experienced is chaffed lips. I still try to maintain good health from the inside by eating well, exercising and taking my recommended supplements. According to my dermatologist by the end of the Oratane course my skin should be about 95% clear (in about 5 months). And he also says there is very little chance of acne every reoccuring. So YAY! Good luck to everyone! Love your skin!
Hi Fran,
So here is my story!
I’m a 40 year old woman who never had any major issues with my skin before my 38th birthday. It all started when I got off the birth control pill. I started to get bad acne and started losing my hair.
After a year of going crazy and spending lots of money on facials, my acne was somewhat under control. I eventually went to see a Naturopath for other health reasons and she believes in eat right for your blood type diet by Peter D’Adamo. Basically anything you eat is related to your blood type. My blood type is A and all A’s should be vegetarians (allowing you if you want to eat for fish and chicken in small quantities). She also gave me vitamins and minerals to supplement my diet. After 4 months I was feeling great. The health issues I was seeing her for started to get much better, but I stated to get REALLY bad acne. Along my jaw line and forehead there were hundreds of small tiny under the skin bumps that would not go away. What I didn’t understand was that I was eating better (more vegetables, fruits, legumes) then I had ever in my life. About a month after the acne stated I started to get these huge inflamed under the skin nodules that would take FOR EVER to go away (which btw left marks I still have to this day).
My skin started to consume me.
I tried Murad, ProActive, Acne.Org but by the summer my skin was not getting better and it was also getting very sensitive to all those hard products I was using.
As I researched the internet, I was getting a lot of information about Soy product causing acne. I was eating a lot of soy milk, tofu etc…I was also noticing that when I would eat more soy one day the next day my acne would flare up even more. There was not a day that would go by without a new zip popping up. It was very depressing.
So after 8 months of dealing with this disgusting condition I stopped eating soy products all together. Within a month, I could see a huge difference in my skin. I stopped getting these humongous nodules and the little tiny ones were also going away.
It’s been 6 months and my skin is OK not great but OK. I still get white heads from time to time, and occasionally get a huge angry one but all in all it is much better.
Your site has been a great help. I look forward to your new blogs and have read all the old ones.
Thanks Fran for doing what you do, you don’t know how much it helps!

Veronika, that’s funny how you mention the honey mask, when I was a teen I did a honey mask a few times a week and I had amazingly clear, soft and smooth skin… I’ll have to get back onto it…
tea tree oil works very well because not only is it antibacterial, but it has certain antioxidants that speed healing…
Fran, I will have to drop you an email about how I cleared my skin after botched laser infected my skin and gave me something similar to cystic acne – then the derm insisted I take doxycycline (antibiotics), but then the antibiotics stuffed my liver and hormones up and now I have a very large tumour caused by exess estrogen in my uterus…
But I’ve stayed positive, cleared my skin fairly well, whilst juggling being a mum and getting everything else in life done all at the same time… it’s been a juggling act, but I’ve survived and so have my family….
Dealing with skin issues and trying to heal yourself is particularly demanding when you have small children that require 200% attention and care, there is no time for rest or much time for fun in-between work and non-stop cooking, cleaning, washing, ironing, etc, etc… But if I can do it, anyone can!
Hey Fran!
I’m Mariya and i’m 17 years old. First of all, I’d like to let you know how much I appreciated all of your tips!! I listened to your advice about how products can be the cause of acne, so i stopped using all of them. All I wash my face with now is just water twice a day and gues what? My skin is better than ever! I do get a couple zits once in a while, mostly when I’m about to start my monthly cycle, however they’re not so noticeable. When I used skin care products, neutrogena mostly, acne would appear all over my face, even though I used them the correct way. I guess the products were the ones stressing my skin out.
Hi Fran!
I just felt that I had to write something in order to help the many of you who may be in the situation I was just months ago..
(of course with some make up on it:P)
I have a long history with acne.. It all started when I was 13 years old and a massive pimple appeared on my cheek. As a normal teenager who never experienced acne I tried to pick it ( man that thing waaas HUUUUUUGEEEE). Then it all started. I literally had an hole on my face and (although I didnt know at the time) bacteria all over from touching it. I spent a year to clear up my first visit of acne and then I relaxed…bad move! It came back, worst than ever.. now I was about 15, and still didnt know better.. I look like a burning victim for two months because I over dried my face with BP…every 15 minutes I would applied a tiny amount all over the face..STUPID THING TO DO!!! But eventually I did cleared up and at the time I though that I had suffered everything an human should due to acne! But no, I was wrong…it came back AGAIN. I was 17 when I started on acuttane. It was kind of a miracle worker: I just had to wash my face, apply a Duac Gel on the pimples at night and mosturize, thats it! By the time I finishing accutane ( I took it for 8 months) my skin was perfect! I mean, I still had some marks, but it wasnt oily at all and I stopped breaking out from foods/stress/etc…my skin felt like a normal skin you know?
After this my life started to take off..I entered Med school, I was working as a model and earning a good amount of money for a 17 years old, enjoying every moment from every day…basicly my life was like a TV serie! If I just knew what was expecting me….I was getting drunk three times a week, not eating breackfast, eating pizza for lunch, macdonalds for dinner, stopped going to the gym (luckly I have a fast metabolism), not having enough sleep, and then out of no where…a pimple appeared!! It was tinny..only I could see it..but I panicked. I missed an important photoshoot because of it, (they would put make up on it and then cleared it up with photoshop..no big deal) then some runways shows and after the third I missed I was fired…I didnt know what to do!! I went back to my dermatologist and she said that my skin was ok, that I just needed to change my life style..not happy with her response I went to another dermatologist.. I was craving for acuttane like an addict!! In my head, acuttane was going to safe me for spending another embarrassing year trying to clear acne.. AGAIN!! The thing with accutane is that you have to be patient; it is not a fast solution!! And for me was the opposite…I started breaking up with huge pimples. I started missing classes every time I had one new pimple and wait for it to fade…In a medicine class you cant just skeep class because of one pimple..I failed the first semester because I missed more classes that I could..After that came my friends..I stopped seeing them and talking to them because I was embarrassed..I didnt want to be remember as the boy who had acne, ALLWAYS…I spent a month locked up at house..yep, one month without putting a foot outside..and of course this type of behavior didnt helped me, it only made my acne worse..In the mean while I stopped eating..I did the acne free in 3 days for 15 days…I lost 10 Kg and my face started to change..it was not only the pimples now, my expressions where different..not to talk about my body! I was literally a sack of bones. My mother couldn’t take it anymore and made me quit accutane..at the time I though she didnt care about me..I couldnt be more wrong!
I came back to the dermatologist and explained the situation to her. I started doing IPL and microdermabrasion sessions and I was prescribed with a strong medicated creams. Also I started to use make up..it was hard at first use make up everyday and not just as a model, and I blame society for that!! My eyes shyne everytime I finished applying it and i feel truly happy about how my skin looks..it makes me remember how my skin was 7 months ago..
Little by little, everything started to come together. I started seeing my friends, I started going to the gym, and most importantly I reapplied to Med school! My skin was still fragil, and I did made some mistakes like over drying and picking at it ..But now it looks great! The only problem I have at the moment is my diet..I am so conscious of what I eat!!! I plan every meal, and I mean EVERY meal..everytime I have a new spot I think “ Why did I hate that chocolate??”.. .But at least I´m having fun again!
From all this , my point is: DO NOT PANIC PEOPLE!! Having acne is normal..all we need to do is know the facts, give time to a routine to work and continue with some basic cares after acne is cleared up because that mother f%ck%r is waiting to come back!! Also you need to pay attention to what you eat, but don’t be maniac about it!! DO exercise regularly and start to feel up your day with activities, that way you don´t have time to think about your face. Another thing that I still do: DO NOT SEARCH OVER ACNE FOR HOURS! Find a routine and stick with it! Searching for new creams or different treatments wont cure you up! Is the same old story of the mirror: by looking two hours at it your pimples will not disappear! DO drink lots of watter and eat green stuff. Be and feel happy!! Your acne will clear up faster and you will enjoy life much much better.
Today my skin is practically clear although I had my first break up since started 2nd round of acuttane! AHAH, how ironic is that? But I went out there like I was still the same guy I was when I had thirty cameras poiting at me
September 2009 I have a casting for a new agency, not as good as the previous but better than nothing!! Wish me luckkk!
I must admit, my treatment was so much simpler than any others here, but hopefully this will help someone else!
I have had acne for three years, which is hormonal. I have always had at LEAST five spots at any given time. The average, however, was between 10 to 15, sometimes higher. However, lately I have made simple changes that resulted in my face and back becoming clear! I have had no more breakouts in that area, and what spots there are left are fading away.
My routin is simple; In the morning, I use Boots Botanics cleanser, which is natural, followed by Simple skincare’s toner, which is alcohol free. This makes it great for sensitive skin, and it is amazing on oily skin, while removing all traces of make-up and cleanser. Then, to moisterize I use Johnstons Baby Lotion. I then take a zinc and vitamin c tablet which I get from Asda (although I only use this every now and then, it’s not nessacary, but it gives me a more natural glow). In school, I drink a litre bottle of fresh water, and after school, a 500 ml bottle of water. At night, I use my Simple cleanser (again suitable for very sensitive skin, all their products are!), then my Simple toner again, followed by Johnstons Baby Lotion.
It’s not really about tablets and that, it’s more about simple, natural skincare. Only thing I have left to say is that my toner is meant to be applyed to cotton wool, then the face, but I transfer it into a spray bottle. It’s better for traveling, plus it gives an even amount. Sometimes use this to remove my make-up after school to let my skin breathe, and it means I don’t have to apply powder, as this keeps excess oil at bay. It sounds and looks a lot, but in reality it’s very simple and doesn’t control my life. It takes a maxamim of ten minutes in the morning, and the same at night. And, occasionally, I use my Simple mask, which only takes three minutes to work. It’s suitable for all skin types, and is quick and easy with great results. This is for anyone with oily skin who likes to do their skincare proparly but quickly. Hope this helps anyone (:
The main cause of my acne was constipation. I wasn’t paying attention to how often I had a b.m. and it was not frequent enough (every other day or so). I had too many toxins in my body for too long, they were trying to come out through my skin. I was also using bha’s and salicylic acid, and these purge the acne and make it worse because the acne gets larger and the pus needs to get out. These acids do nothing to kill the acne bacteria (which is what causes acne to get bigger and form pus, and form cystic lesions) they only exfoliate. What actually stops acne from growing is Benzoyl Peroxide–it will kill the bacteria and shrink zits and prevent pus from even forming if you use it on very small new acne. What stops acne from forming in the first place is proper diet–lots of whole grains and veggies (for me cutting out diary, especially cheese because it constipates), and exercise. Prunes and prune juice help too if needed. Now I am much more regular and I don’t have large acne forming under my skin…only very small acne once in a while and I hit it with extra benzoyl peroxide and after a day or 2 it shrinks down and is gone, no redness or bumps. Changing diet and using benzoyl peroxide works to stop new lesions from forming within a month, so try it! Hope this helps.
Hi Fran!!
My skin is definetely on the way to clearing. I purchased a 100mL bottle of Tea Tree Oil from Thursday Plantation for $10 -it was on sale! I use it twice a day using the 1:5 ratio (water:TTO). I usually use a clean finger to dab it on acne problem spots after having a hot shower and letting steam open the pores on my face.
I used to have really red, irritated acne and it needed like 2 hours to calm down after cleansing my face both morning and night which was a problem when I wore foundation makeup in an attempt to cover it!
Now, well for the past few days, I’ve gone out without wearing any makeup and my skin looks a whole lot less red than it used to be. The Tea Tree Oil dries out the pimple, especially lesions and has a soothing effect. A good moisturiser is needed though because sometimes, especially for people with dry sensitive skin, it can dry out the face too much.
Also, a tip for people with sensitive skin, I’d recommend using aloe vera gel instead of water because it cools down and soothes your skin.
On top of that, at least 8 hours of sleep (9 is good), drinking at least 2L of water to flush out toxins, regular exercise throughout the week to relieve stress and just be happy and enjoy life! Suffering from acne shouldn’t stop you from being yourself.
My mum squeezes lemon into her cup, whenever she drinks water to flush out impurities inside your body. I usually drink lemon/honey water because it tastes nice and has the same effect.
Thanks fran for all your tips, your website was how I found out about TTO!! Lots of Love, Joanne
Fran
I have been using a few of your tips and I cannot tell you how much better my skin looks and feels!
I quit using my Oxy products and went for something more natural. I bought some Burt’s Bees Peach and Willowbark Deep Pore Scrub a couple of days ago, and my acne is looking so much better already! I also picked up some Camphor Facial Toner from my local health store today and I’ll try it out tonight.
I also considered the fact that sweat could be causing my body acne, and started exfoliating my chest and shoulders and I’ve been wearing tank tops recently. (I live in Kentucky and it was about 85 degrees F. today) My body acne it almost completely gone! I am so, so happy!
I have also been taking some time to reduce my stress level. I’m getting ready to enter high school this fall, so I’m very nervous, but I have stopped letting myself worry. Whenever I find myself in a stressful situation, I stop what I’m doing and go watch my favorite TV show or go and read a good book (right now I’m reading Wuthering Heights) and my acne has been clearing up faster than any topical treatment I’ve ever used!!
As for my diet, I hace completely eliminated wheat, dairy, and soda from my diet and my skin already looks healthier. It hasn’t really cleared up my acne, but I have not seen any new breakouts.
So anyway, I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your tips with the rest of us. It is really wonderful that instead of trying to rip people off, you understand how horrible acne can be and try to help everyone. Thanks so much and I will continue to follow the rest of your guide!!

Hi Fran!
First, I would just like to say thank you so much for your website. You are a blessing to me and so many others who struggle with “skin disorders.”
I have had acne for a long time. I am an African American woman. It’s probably been about ten years that I’ve suffered with acne and eczema. I am in my 20s now and just found a few products (for the first time) that work on my oily acneic skin.
I had to stop using a lot of my strong chemical products, even the ones that were kind of working. I wanted to change my lifestyle and start to take better care of myself. I have tried differin gel, proactive, cliacin, so many other topical solutions provided by dermatologists and tv infomercials. I started doing a little research about a month ago on natural products.
I suffer from oily skin and large pores. I was already using aveeno but after doing a little research I found that I was not applying the right type of cleanser for my oily skin. I started using the Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser with Salicylic Acid. For a toner, I started using rose water. Finally, for a moisturizer, I use jojoba oil. Great choice for me because I started seeing results in a day. My skin was less oily because of the jojoba oil, how ironic! The foaming cleanser cleans my face without over drying it, so it always feels nice and smooth afterwards. I love the rose water because it not only smells wonderful but really leaves my skin feeling clean and refreshed.
I have also changed my diet. Although I still eat wheat, I have added fruits and veggies. I only drink water and every morning I have some yogurt. I also have green tea at night before I go to bed.
For my eczema I started using Tom’s of Maine natural moisturizing body wash. This one is soooo good for my skin. I don’t feel too dry after getting out of the shower but I still feel clean. For moisturizer I use coconut oil. This works great! It actually has cleared up my body acne. It wasn’t severe to start with, however, when my diet wasn’t doing much to clear it, I used the coconut oil and it slowly started to clear up the marks on my arms. For my eczema, the coconut oil actually cleared the eczema scars on my legs. Using the Tom’s of Maine and coconut oil on my body has helped a lot. I love it, especially being an African American woman. I thought I would never find anything like this. It is truly a blessing!
