I had an interesting chat with my makeup supplier today. She’s a beauty therapist and a naturopath which is the perfect combination. If I ever go back to study I’ll definitely follow the same path!
I’ve been so fed up, frustrated and down about my clogged up skin and persistent mild acne breakouts of the past couple of months. It’s so %$^% annoying because I cleared my skin and then this happened. I always thought it was because I went a bit over the top with the OCM but I wasn’t 100% sure, until she confirmed it today.
The biggest mistake I made was doing the OCM twice a day over the hottest time of the year in the tropical climate that I live in. Apparently this is why the oil got trapped in my pores
The OCM did such a good job at clearing up my cystic acne but because I made too many mistake with it, it ended up giving me a very bad case of cosmetic acne which I’m still struggling with. Keep in mind that I have super sensitive skin that seems to react to most things I put on it.

I’m really glad that you posted this video because I also live in a tropical area. I live in Florida, so there is alot of heat and humidity. I plan on using the OCM once a day to see how that works out. Thanks for letting everyone know this.
Hi Fran! I posted a response about my experience with the OCM about a week or so ago. I had been struggling with acne around my mouth for about 2 weeks that had come out of nowhere after my doc changed my BC, and the acne didn’t want to go away! I tried the OCM and the very next day my skin was healing and no more flare ups! I was over the moon!!! THEN I came crashing down to earth again..without my parachute! lol…it was THAT time of the month and where I would typically get one, maybe two pimples…I got like 14. I have normal skin, it’s not oily it’s not dry or sensitive, so I followed the OCM mixing amounts and my face really dried out. i did OCM once a day for a week and finally HAD to stop. SOOOO the good news is that 4 days ago I decided to take some info I had read from your website and I went and bought organic Tea Tree Oil with Awapuhi for my cleanser, organic coconut milk cream as a moisturizer, had my doctor change me to a low dose bc ( I would list brands but I’m not sure you can list them), and staphAseptic first aid gel for the pimples that had flared up so often they just weren’t healing( the picking and squeezing didn’t help either), some mineral make up, and last but not least eye drops to take away the redness…so this was my approach and OH MY GOODNESS, 4 days later you would NOT BELIEVE how drastically my skin has improved. I’m not quite sure if it’s one or a combination of these products, but I wanted to share this so that maybe it might help someone else. I love the coconut milk cream, it feels so wonderful and it’s not oily or greasy at all. This is great because as much as I love the Tea Tree face wash it does leave my skin a bit dry. The eye drops worked so quickly and so well, taking about 75% of the redness away. The staphAseptic is WONDERFUL!! Unlike other first aid ointments, it is in NO way greasy and actually kills skin infections that are staph resistant, so it really clears up the areas people shouldn’t but DO pick away at…I saw results in less than 6 hours. The Mineral make up is so amazing! I have been using a high end make up brand for years and I loved it, but with my skin flaring up I didn’t want to put anything unnatural on it…I will never go back. SOOO, I know this was LONG but again, I just wanted to thank you so much for lots of healthy info on your site. Everyone’s skin is different, so you never know what just might work for you! Have a wonderful vacation!
CASTOR OIL FOR SHAVING
I’ve always gotten razor burns from shaving. No shaving foam, thick conditioner, or anything would prevent those little red bumps from popping up everwhere I shaved about a day later. I had actually resorted to using an electric razor to prevent the irritation.
The other day, I stumbled upon my new favourite shaving product: castor oil. I was already in the shower when I realized I had no Shaving gel. All I had on hand was the castor oil that I use with the OCM. So I used that as my shaving product.
Wow. I had (have) no razor burn, no bumps, no irritation, NONE. Which is completely unheard of for me.
Thought I would share my find with you and any other readers who might have this same issue I had.
I also get razor burn from shaving. I like to use coconut oil. Its great! I like using it because you dont even need to use lotion after shaving because it leaves it feeling so soft and smooth.
Hey Fran
I have started using the Dermalogica Precleanse. This uses olive oil and kukui oils. You apply onto dry skin and massage the oils in and you then add a little bit of water to your skin and it makes the product turn milky. I use this to remove my makeup and helps the cleanser to work more efficiently. When it turns milky you know that the oil isn’t going to sink into your pores. REALLY like this product. No problems with it so far. You should give it a try one day or anybody else.
Hi Katie, I LOVE Dermalogica but unfortunately they’re full of chemicals. Olive oil also has a medium clogability so I don’t want to use it on the skin on my face.
After listening to this blog, I’m kind of scared as to what will happen to my skin in a few weeks. I tried the Acne Free in 3 Days detox which has you leaving on castor oil overnight for a few days. And I liked (or thought I liked) how it was making my skin feel and thought that it was bringing things to the surface, tough blackheads that had been there for ever etc.. Then I had two big blemishes emerge, one was a clogged pore under the skin that had been there. And I’ve been thinking well maybe it is just bringing things to the surface, which could be a good thing. I do notice clogged pores in my nasio-labial folds that are under the skin but haven’t surfaced. I continue to use jojoba 70% and castor 30% on my skin and leave it on after steaming. I have oily skin which sometimes can dry from product use, sun, or too much pool time. I live in NYC. The weather here is cooling, in the 70s. I don’t know whether to continue. How long after did you breakout? 2 months? It seems like a long time after to have the breakout then.
I am going to try the Castor oil and Avacado oil method and i am going to get my sister to just do the water one. because we both have acne so we will see who’s skin “comes out better” i know that different skins vary but we will see. i hope this works for me! thank you
