I’ve Been Raw Vegan For 25 Days!

Well, I’ve made it to day 25 as a 100% raw vegan and it’s still going pretty good. In fact I’m a little bit sad that my little experiment is going to be ending in just a few days!

Here is a video of how I’ve been feeling since my last raw video log-

You look wonderful and your skin is really glowing! You are such a good rolemodel for health. Did you take a look at the site?

I have one question though. What body sunscreen and body wash do you use?

Thanks very mcuh

Fran, seriously? This isn’t a fashion video, there’s no need for you to apologize about looking disheveled!!

Hi Fran,
An off-topic question: Have you had any feedback from the member who won the contest for Dr. Neal’s Acne Practice boot camp kit? I was just curious. =)

It’s funny you say you look disheveled – I was going to comment on how pretty you look with your hair up!

Same here with the salt & heaviness – I tend to only crave cooked food when I need salt & oil. After not eating dairy for 9 months, I started making gluten-free grilled cheese sandwiches as a comfort food, only because I was too lazy to make something healthier. But afterward my body feels gross and tired, and I’m not supposed to eat cheese anyway since it makes me breakout and I’m lactose intolerant. So a couple days ago I threw the cheese in the garbage can!

Maybe I should make a raw bread with nut cheese or something. Normally I’m pretty good about the cooked food I eat – mainly quinoa/brown rice, steamed/stirfry veggies, beans, and eggs.

P.S. It’s interesting to hear about your motivational issue. 100% raw is an enormous transition, so I wouldn’t be too hard on yourself. You can always add more stuff to your detox program in the future. Hopefully the laziness isn’t a nutritional imbalance though! I guess you’ll find out when you incorporate cooked food again.

I find that when I’m working on spiritual/life changes, it’s harder for me to “get things done” too. I think it’s my higher self telling me to pause and learn from my situation before taking the next step. But when I eat high % raw, it keeps my energy up so I process the change quicker and get my motivation back. Right now I’m eating mostly raw and I’ve been getting a ton of stuff done (and starting new things), but I’ve been eating like this for months. I’ve never done 100% raw for more than a week though – never tried it, but I want to. I’ll wait until your food journal comes out. My boyfriend wants to see it too!

I wish I could keep my comments more concise…i just have so much to say since i’m going through similar things.

I have just discovered the paleodiet. Finally I learnt why eating sugars and carbs means acne for me, and no break-outs for other folks. It’s clear why vegetarians also have acne. Acne sufferers belong to one genetic type – insulin resistant. It’s my day 3 and my skin is not oily. Now I understand why it was and is not. I am shocked how simple the answer is.
Raw food is wonderful when you want to detox but it does not solve the problem. And none of us will be 100% raw, let’s be honest, all life long. So, it’s better to understand the cause of acne and enjoy the right foods than be distracted by things like ‘100%raw’ or even sun-eating (google if you do not know).
Thanks, Fran, for this experiment.

I agree with Veronika. Your hair does look good. I do think that you should be raw vegan for anthoer to weeks to see if you get more results.

By the way, what is the name of the yoga mazagine that you read?

Olivia- I use the Live-Live sunblock that I sell in my store, and I don’t use a body wash! I just wash with water.

Vadim- No meat for me, I’ve been vegetarian for a few years now and I’m going to stick to that. I will eat organic free range eggs again though.

Natalia- Thanks lovely :) I think I felt it more than I looked it!

Christina- Yes! I saw Josh posted a comment about how he’s going. It’s in this blog somewhere … I think under the winners announcement post.

Veronika- Raw bread and nut cheeses just aren’t the same! But their heaviness helps.

Mike- Wow, strong comment. There are many, many people who have been 100% raw for years. I know, I follow their teachings. There are also countless cases of acne sufferers who have cleared up their skin beautifully from a raw food diet. Russell James being the most famous of them!

You can’t put everyone with acne in the one box. We aren’t all insulin resistant. Because acne is a symptom of multiple different problems ..it’s just toxins coming out of our body. For example – I have dry skin! And I had barely ANY acne until I turned 27.

I also don’t think I’m being distracted by a raw food diet. I’m doing a beautiful gentle cleanse of my body, my skin is looking amazing and I have this beautiful sense of peacefulness, happiness in my body and often feel super high on life! OMG that is so worth eating raw.

But that’s great to hear your diet is working for you :)

Bethany- Thanks beautiful!

Olivia- I’m going to drop down to 80% and see how different my body feels. I plan to do the arise and shine detox maybe late February or March so that will be 100% raw again for 30 days. It’s a big cleansing year for me!

I don’t read any yoga mags in Australia, but I LOVED The Yoga Journal in North America x

Thanks. I live ing Canada so I can read that. Do you know what store you got it from? Do you use the live-live sunscreen on your body too? :3

Wow Fran, I’m so proud of you for your raw vegan month!

Last year my really good friend decided to help me out (I had depression) and she took me to one of her motivational seminars through the business her mother runs. We learned about making, keeping & achieving goals and my friend & I went home and made a “dream book” full of posters, pictures and ideas for dreams and goals we wanted to achieve. One of mine was “go raw vegan for 30 days”.

Although I definitely agree with you on the eggs thing, my family have always bought freerange eggs so I don’t feel too bad eating them every now and then, and I try to eat rennet-free cheese. I’ve been vego for 2 1/2 years!
