I found this awesome video on YouTube last night.
It’s a video of an actual doctor who’s talking about natural skin care, and how to prevent premature aging and acne through natural treatments.
I love this video because this doctor confirms everything that I talk about with natural skin care and healing acne. And I love it even more because he talks a lot about how important nutrition is.
I can’t stress enough how important food and diet is for your skin, your body, your mind, your soul ..everything, so it’s awesome to actually hear it confirmed from someone who has a medical degree.
If you want to get serious about having clear, glowing skin long term, then you will at some point need to look at the foods you’re consuming.
Over the past few weeks I’ve been spending a lot of time researching alternative nutritional medicine, and have discovered some really quite amazing information that I’ll be writing or videoing about on my blog over the next few weeks.
It just makes me realize how holistic everything really is. The food we eat, the water we drink, the place we live, activities we choose to do, television shows we watch, even the attitude we have towards life ..it’s all connected and it all mixes together and manifests into our health and well being.

Thank you for that video. It really helped me put everything together that I have been learning from you and your website. I eat plenty of fruits and veggies. I recently cut out sugar and caffeine out of my diet. I exercise everyday. I am taking a supplement for fatty acids. I drink a lot of water. So I am doing many of the things that he had mentioned in this video. I know that my birth control and or an allergy is the main culprit of my acne. He had also mentioned that you need silica. What foods have silica?
wow, i just watched this video and now i’m going downstairs to have a glass of water and a peach.
Ive been eating well and exercising for the past couple of months

ive tottaly cut out sugar from my diet
I dont eat any processed or refined foods, i read labels like crazy
I’m very gentle with my face
And yet I’m still getting these cysts on my cheeks
I went to the dermatologist recently
and he just wanted to prescribe me acctuane, I of course refused to take something with that many side effects when it only had a 28% chance of working (he got annoyed and just perscribed more anti biotics and sent me on my way. I’m not going to take them)
But Im not sure what more I can do
Im getting so fustrated and sick of my skin problem its been a whole year now..
I havent cut out wheat from my diet or dairy because I never had a problem with those foods
could it be possible Im getting acne because of them just this year??
To Shiva: maybe try taking the Accutane. I tried plenty of holistic treatments myself, all of which made only slight differences. I started Accutane two and a half months ago, and so far the only side effect I’ve had are dry lips. Otherwise, I treat my body as holistically as I can, which still helps. It keeps my skin healthy. Accutane is very abrasive for the skin, but through healthy eating, exercise, and natural moisturizing and cleansing, you protect both your skin and your body.
Fran:
About your comment about how everything we do affects our health, you should read Dr. Maoshing Ni’s book about living to be one hundred. It’s an easy read, and full of advice stemming from traditional Chinese medicine and following the advances of modern Western medicine. It’s a treat for holistic health-nuts.
Hi Fran, loving your blog(:
Just wanted to tell you I saw a video on Utube recently on Jason Mraz who’s a raw natural foodist and he mixed up cacao with avacado to make “chocomole”. Just an idea for a way you can consume your cacao beans(:
Shiva- I won’t know exactly why you’re getting acne until I get a proper history from you. It sounds like you’re doing everything right so I’m guessing it’s a couple of things. First, it could be induced by stress (which was my problem). Secondly, (and the mistake that I made too), if you all of a sudden changed to being SUPER healthy, then your body will start releasing stored up toxins rapidly. If we don’t help our body to push these toxins out of our colon, then they can come out of our skin. If we have acne prone skin, then they can come out as acne.
Write a post in the forum and I’ll help you out in more detail in there.
Chemistryz- Thanks for the tip! I’m collecting a list of raw foodists at the moment to aspire too, and I’m learning a ton of great info. I have a recipe already for cacao + avocado at the moment (to make chocolate pudding) which I want to try sometime
You add cacao powder, carob powder, dates, avocado and agave (I think that’s it ….)
To shiva:
I’ve been reading the e-book clear for life by seppo puusa and I have cut out as much grains and diary out of my diet as possible because it just doesn’t do anything for your body. The book also shows u that just focusing on diet wont get you clear.
p.s sorry fran , not trying to advertise
Lily- There are some grains that are exceptionally good for your body because they’re packed full of vitamins and nutrients, like amaranth and quinoa (just to name a couple).
And you’re right, just focusing on diet will rarely make you clear. You also need to use good skin care, practice relaxation, and take supplements.
Hey Fran!
Just first I would like to say thanks for this website. It’s wonderful. I have been eating rather well, and my skin has improved except for those darn acne scars. Is there anything or any kind of food that can help replace new skin cells or revitalize my skin so that I don’t have to deal with this pain anymore?
Hi Elizabeth, thanks for the feedback
If you’re already eating well, there’s no particular food that you can eat that will help the scars to heal faster. As long as you’re eating enough vitamins and minerals, your body will heal as well as it can.
My suggestion is to try working on the skin on the outside, by applying manuka honey, or a honey product daily. Or you could try an oil like bio-oil or emu oil which many have had great success with.
And of course, regular exfoliation is always essential and makes a big difference
Hey Fran, since u mentioned exfoliation, i’ve actually heard alot about using baking soda along with our cleanser 3-4 times a week, what do you have to say? i have oily acne-prone skin btw. thanks.
pavan- Yep, baking soda mixed in with my cleanser is actually my fav method of exfoliation!
AHH!! I really don’t know how to cut the sugars out of my diet. I need to Google foods to avoid or something. I’m sad…going for some water.
How can i contact you fran? I have something awesome to tell you about but when i sent you an e-mail, i never got a response. I dont think it worked
Hi Siepri, if it’s really important you can send me a private message in the forum - http://www.highonhealth.org/forums/
