I’ve finally found a natural cleanser I absolutely love!

My boyfriend uses pure organic hemp oil as a facial moisturizer and he has GREAT skin, so when I was in a health store a couple of weeks ago and stumbled across a skin care brand called “Hemp Hemp Hooray”, I absolutely had to try their cleanser out.

Hemp Hemp Hooray’s Lush Lime Cleansing Cream is a beautiful rich cream cleanser. I’ve never had any luck with foaming cleansers because they dry my skin out too much. Cream cleansers on the other hand usually don’t strip the natural oil balance from my skin which I love because it means I’m keeping my skin in a really luscious natural state.

The Lush Lime Cleansing Cream is no exception. After using it my skin feels balanced and hydrated. If your skin feels dry or tight after cleansing it’s always a good sign that your cleanser is stripping too many natural oils off your skin. This is only going to lead to a disruption in the acid mantle of your skin and therefore possibly more acne. So if this is what your cleanser is doing now, definitely switch to a new one.

What I love most about this product is how it contains only a small number of ingredients. In my experiences over the last couple of years of blogging about natural skin care, the best natural products seem to contain the smallest number of ingredients. I guess this is just getting back to nature and following the rule which I love “simple is better”.

It also contains no comedogenic ingredients which is awesome! So boys and girls, you can safely use this product without worrying about clogged pores or getting a breakout. In fact, hemp oil is so incredibly healing so will actually be HELPING to clear your acne.

Since researching hemp oil for this blog post I’ve come across countless sources of information that rave about taking hemp oil internally and using it externally to help clear acne and improve the skin. So much so that I’m going to do a trial over the next few weeks using hemp oil only as a moisturizer. It’s supposed to be amazing at unclogging pores, keeping acne away, soothing redness and irritation and helping scars heal faster. So I’ll let you know what the results are!

Hemp Hemp Hooray’s Cleansing Cream is also quite cheap. It costs just over AU$20 for 250mL which is a lot cheaper than the Philosophy’s Purity Made Simple that I’ve been using. I honestly can’t find any reason not to use this product, I really do love it!

And after researching hemp I’m an even bigger fan of hemp products and the oil so I highly encourage you to give Hemp Hemp Hooray’s products a go. If you’re in Australia you may be able to find them in your local health stores. If not, you can read more about the products or buy from their website here - Hemp Hemp Hooray!

Hi Fran -
I currently use jojoba oil on my face - it works well, but I still break out … do you think hemp oil would be even better??

#2 Fran on 11.23.09 at 9:14 am

Hey Jenny, hemp seed oil seems to be a lot more healing so you could try switching to it. I don’t think it’s a “miracle” acne solution though, so even though it’s likely to help your skin it’s also unlikely to clear your acne.

I’ve been trying this homemade cleanser now for about 3 weeks and it has worked wonders on my acne skin and also helped battle the increasingly humid weather here in Brissie.

Every night (although you could probably make a larger batch once a week) I blend 1/2 tsp of green clay with 1/2 tsp of 15 Manuka honey and 1/2 tsp almond oil (these is approximate, i just do it by eye).

When I’m in the shower I just gently massage this into my moistened face and leave it on until the end of my shower in which I wash it off with a bit of muslin (cheesecloth).

I’ve also been applying fresh aloe gel from an aloe vera leaf and gently wiping away with a cotton pad, as you would with any toner, and then I pat a fresh slice of garlic onto any blemishes (as garlic is highly anticeptic)

I’m really happy with these results, it’s natural, healthy, and cheap :)

Fran, this sounds awesome. Thanks! I have wanting to tell you and others to please try oil of oregano (the most natural you can find, as a topical treatment! It really is the best thing i have tried for inflammation! And i have tried everything, like you. Even the lowest percent of “natural” silicic acid treatments are just to harsh and really do not heal anything for me. Please give it a try if you feel you need it.

TO ANYONE READING… I RECOMMEND THAT YOU TRY OIL OF OREGANO (NATURAL) TO REDUCE INFLAMMATIONS AND EVEN ON WHITE HEADS.

On that note i disagree with silicic acid all together, we are not meant to put such ingredients on our precious faces.

Good luck. You are beautiful

That’s awesome! I’m a total fan of hemp products. I’ve been drinking hemp milk and putting hemp seeds in my salads to get more omega 3 & 6. I think I’ll try this cleanser soon, and might even try hemp oil as a moisturizer.

Oh, one question: Fran, do you feel like this cleanser removes your mineral foundation effectively?

@Sarah
Your cleanser sounds amazing! My acne is pretty much gone now! But I still want to try out your homemade cleanser so might be heading out to the health store to grab the ingredients today!

@Fran
I’m SOOO tempted to try out this cleanser, simply because I love, love, love Bee Yummy, so am trusting you have good judgement!

What about the company “Hempz”, are their products simillar?

Does it work on oily/mix skin? Do we just apply the cream directly to the skin or we need to mix it with water? I am tempted to buy!

Fran,
Thanks for this review! I’ve been trying out some cream cleansers after finding your blog. Although we have a similar skin profile, the Philosophy Purity didn’t excite me because it wasn’t natural, has a toxicity rating of 4-5 on Skin Deep, and as far as I can tell isn’t made here in Australia. I’ve been trying enkido’s Cleansing Milk 2 in 1, which has been fantastic, has a zero toxicity rating on cosmeticsdatabase.com and no comedogenic ingredients. But I have been a huge fan of hemp products for years and want to give this a try before settling on “the one”. I can’t wait to try it out.
Thanks again!

Veronika- Yep! sure does :)

Disha- I haven’t head of them, you’ll need to compare the ingredients listings.

Tina- Just use it like a normal cleanser! It’s quite gentle so I’m confident it will work on both dry and oily skin types.

Hi Franc,

So what hemp seed moisturiser is your bf using? Do you think that the moisturiser that your bf uses is better than the bee yummy?

#16 Fran on 12.07.09 at 8:16 pm

Hey Bear, He’s using straight organic hemp oil ..just a tiny amount. I’m a bit nervous about using it myself. I used it once and I do have a small breakout but it may have been from something else. I’ll have to try again when I have the guts!

I’m a stockist of the hemp hemp hooray range and agree whole heartedly with your product review. Another great product in the range is skin soothe which is also fantastic for skin conditions in general. My husband has suffered from acne for years and has had great results with the skin soothe. I use all their products myself and absolutely love them. Great quality, no harsh chemicals, naturally good for you and all at a reasonable price!

Hi Fran,

How are you progressing with the HHH! Lush Lime Cleansing Cream? Noticable skin improvement? Would love to hear some after thoughts on the cleanser before buying it =) Be well!

#19 Tina on 12.13.09 at 2:02 am

I bought the cleasing cream and it has done amazing on my skin so far! Compare to the cetaphil that I am using, it is not drying on my skin especially near the lip area. My skin looks more hydrated now!

Hi Fran,

I’ve recently started using Philosophy made simple cleanser but I notice this Hemp Hemp Hooray Cleansing cream is fairly new for you. Did you stop using the Philosophy made simple and started using this one officially? Let me know cuz I’m thinking about buying this cleanser. I am a HUGE fan of all natural products and this one sounds promising, although I do really like the Philosophy one.

Hey Fran,
I’m almost out of my purity made simple cleanser and was thinking of buying a new one until i saw this.
i would really like to try this but i’m a bit scared that i’ll break out from the oils. Did you happen to get any breakouts from this? and does this cleanser actually cleanse well?
Thanks! :)
