The Cheapest And Easiest Way To Cleanse Your Skin From The Inside

One of the easiest things you can do for your health and skin is to drink a cup of luke warm water with lemon in the morning. I’ve been doing it for a few weeks now and I love it. I boil the kettle when I wake up, then put a thick slice of organic lemon into a cup with the hot water (and a bit of cold water to cool it down a little).

I’m surprised that some people think that it tastes yuck. I actually love the taste and am kind of addicted to it now. It’s really fresh and sweet. Maybe the use of organic lemons helps with the taste too, they probably have a lot more flavour without being too sour.

How does it work?

Lemon water works by flushing out toxins from your body by stimulating the liver and kidneys (the organs that remove toxins from your body). It’s a natural way to detoxify and cleanse the body, how good is that!

It’s also great in the morning because it can often make you go to the toilet, which is a good thing because every time you do a number 2 you’re removing toxins from your body.

Apparently the lemon water can give your skin a natural ‘glow’. I’m yet to experience this, probably because my face is still a bit spotty and red from pimples and slightly sun damaged from my recent trip to the beach …but some lucky clear skin people claim they get the glow.

Um, is it as easy as boiling an egg?

Yeah, easier. It’s probably best to use organic lemons because the store bought lemons contain pesticides which is adding toxins to your body, and the whole point here is to remove them. If you can’t find organic lemons or they’re too expensive, that’s okay, just squeeze the lemon juice into your cup instead of chucking a whole chunk in. I’d only advise leaving the skin on the lemon if it’s organic.

It’s also best to use luke warm water and not boiling hot water. Why? Because your body can get a bit stressed with food and drink that’s too hot or too cold. We want to help the body cleanse and detoxify. Luke warm water is close to the bodies natural temperature so the perfect way to have the lemon water.

Lemon water is also really good for preventing colds and flus. I don’t get sick a lot so I can’t comment on this one but anything that helps prevent you from getting sick has to be a good thing.

I also think this is a great drink. I modify it a little by adding a slice of fresh ginger as well. I think it’s great and I agree that it feels very cleansing. It seems the more of it you drink, the better you feel.

Hmm, ginger - I might try that. Usually I find ginger in juice way too hot. It feels like it’s heating up my insides too much, but maybe a little in the lemon water will be different :)

Christine good tip, another great one is honey. in fact it’s the combination of the three that’s recommended highly in Ayurveda (an ancient Indian health system) for stimulating the digestive system in teh morning (in turn helping to detoxify teh skin).
In one cup of hot water, add a big squeeze of lemon, 1 sml tspn honey and a thin slice of fresh ginger - just don’t heat the honey as it kills off all the good bacteria and actually makes it harmfull, but adding it to already heated water is ok.
Hmm might go make myself one now!

Since just a slice of lemon and some water be good for us a day, what would your thoughts then be on Lemonade itself and even just adding some Lemon Juice (from a container) to water?

And of course, I mean the organic varieties. Course you can comment on the non-organic ones as well.

I agree with the idea of releasing toxins from our body. Chemicals and pollutions are the potential sources of toxins in our body, so it is better that we always consume something that help us to release these pollutants from our body and lemon is one of great food that helps us.
