This may be one of the more hippy-trippy articles that I write, but I feel it’s such a great story that is definitely worth sharing with you.
Today I woke up in my beautiful house with my three yogini friends, grabbed my macbook and came to this cafe to have breakfast and write this article. My life is just about where I want it right now and sometimes I even need to pinch myself at how lucky I am to be living with such wonderful friends, and to be working in such an awesome industry.
But of course it was a long journey to get here. At the age of 29 I’ve gone through a lot of soul searching and a lot of ignoring the gentle push of the universe until I finally gave in and went with the flow to end up where I am today.
You can actually get anything you want
In early January this year my life had come to a bit of a crisis. I’d just returned home from an amazing year overseas, had itchy feet and wanted to travel again, my boyfriend and I split up, I had to find a new place to live, and the money I was making from my business could only be classed as “pocket money”.
So when my friend invited me over to her holiday house on one of the Islands off the coast of Brisbane, of course I jumped at the chance for a bit of time out.
A few days before my trip to the Island, I’d been inspired by a self development style video by Frank Kern. In the video Frank talked about how his life had reached a point where he was a bit miserable. He was feeling unhappy with his job, with his lifestyle, his health and the place he lived. So he sat down and wrote out his PERFECT day in minute detail. And guess what, after a few months his day turned into a reality. I was so inspired by Franks video that I decided to write down my perfect day too, just to see what would happen.
When doing this exercise it’s important not to hold back on anything. You need to write down exactly what you want, regardless of time, money, freedom etc. Imagine there are no life limitations at all.
So I imagined exactly what would make me really happy and just went for it, starting with the time I woke up in the morning, what I would do after I got up, what I’d eat for breakfast, what I’d be wearing, how I was feeling ..you get my drift.
Unfortunately I didn’t end up writing down my entire perfect day because the friend I was staying with woke up from her nap and came out to talk to me so my perfect day stopped at late morning. For some reason I then never seemed to have the time to get back to finishing the exercise. Something always came up or got in the way. And then I completely forgot about it altogether, so may perfect day was forever frozen at late morning.
But the amazing thing is, last week I was reflecting on my new wonderful home and my lovely life that I have right now and I was thinking …hold on, this is my perfect day that I wrote down in January! And I swear to you, everything that I wrote down in that exercise has come true. I’m now living my perfect day!! Well, to late morning anyway. And it only took seven months for the universe to make it happen
Now I’m going to have to go back and finish off that day to make the rest a reality.
Fran, why are you writing this hippy-trippy article in your blog???
Meh, I know ..this is not very related to natural skin care. But you know what, in a way it is. I got such a strong response in my blog and email from my article - I Don’t Drink Alcohol, Do You Think I’m Weird? - that it made me realize that there are some of you out there that are craving a healthier lifestyle, healthier friends and a happier living environment. So I’m telling you my story to let you know that you can get whatever you want. You can shape your life to make it however you want it to be. Great huh?
And of course it doesn’t matter what age you are. If you’re still in school then you can write your perfect day down too. My house mates are a lot younger than me (20, 21 and 24) but they seem to be having perfect days too!
So if you’ve got a similar experience to me, I’ve love to hear from you so let us know about it by writing in the response box below.

Wow, this sounds alot like the book I tried to get myself to read, The Secret, the book that told you the secret to getting whatever you wanted. I’ve never really given this much thought, thinking, yeah whatever, this only happens to whoever is lucky enough, but now I think I’ll give it a try, thanks for posting this!
Hi Elena, yep! The secret is a great doco, I highly recommend it
Your post gave me a twitch of a smile, which is a lot considering my crappy mood..You know what my perfect day is….just one day…being alone in paradise.
I really do not enjoy the Secret, I found it way too materialistic…but…I do believe in the power of positive thinking. After I started thinking positivly about my life, my skin, my well-being I am so extradorniarily happy I can’t even believe it sometimes. Definitly visualization, affirmation, and general positivity can change your life forever. Thank you so much for sharing this with us! I’m going to go write my perfect day down right now. This is random but have you everheard of Nourishing Traditions? I was wondering what you thought of it if you have.
Thank you!
Love,
Lucy
I love finding more and more people who believe in this type of thing, it’s really exciting to see the changes happening around our planet. Once people turn and see the light of this, it is very hard to go back. I read the Secret years ago in high school and have been researching it and utilizing it since, and it’s pretty crazy to grasp at first, but once you realize you can literally manifest anything you want, it changes you, in the most wonderful, exciting ways… Every day I witness more and more of my thoughts creating the life I want… I am getting really close. To clarify how close, let’s just say I haven’t had a bad day in a looong time
It does also link really well to skin health too because of the close relationship between the mind and our body and health. I am convinced this is how I achieved my clear beautiful skin. Thanks for writing this Fran =)
Thinking about my perfect day make me realized that everything I have now is perfect only if I don’t have to deal with my job.
Umm…something to think about!
I love The Secret and anything about the Law of Attraction. As I am trying to change my life to be more optimistic and that I become a stronger woman to fulfil my life with whatever I want to do and achieve
Can this type of vizualization work for people who suffer acne prone skin??? As in to vizualize your life free of acne????
Hi Davixa, gorgeous picture
And yes, it sure can work. Inna Segal has a section in her book on this, it’s worth a look.
Good post! I’m going to try this… later. I really will though.
Lucy - Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon? It’s on my to-buy list. I really want it.
Lucy, yes I have heard of nourishing traditions! My house mate owns it. It’s an awesome book
hey, I really loved your blog and especially this article, its full of optimism and hope. I am 24 years old, five years ago, i never had a spot on my face..then my life style changed, I went away to study electrical engineering against my aptitute, mom passed away meanwhile..four years later an engineer returned home with a face populated by acne..my life style changed..thoughts didn’t..i have very bad routine, barbaric eating habbits and lot of caffeine to fuel me..i am on a journey to self discovery. It seems I have outlived positivity!
Do add an aricle on how to rejuvenate the old tattered souls into positive thinking. Sorry for so many words..I just don’t fit in a box!

Fran! Reading your blog always gets me inspired, honestly you must write some books on holistic healing and healthy living! When I hear your story it just gives me a great deal of hope, I too feel like I’m not where I want to be, not surroudned by the people I’d liek to be, not doing the things I want, and when writing my perfect day I realized that I just need to simplify my life. all this hustle and bustle waiting in traffic, going to drinking parties etc., I’m thinking, what more can I do to be happy?? and it’s just some time to slow down, relax and breathe. It might also be the weather too, we just got 2 feet of snow over here (Washington DC area), the summer awaits. Anyway thank you so much for all your blogs, but this one especially really makes me feel good about my life =] Take care! oh nd Merry Christmas!
Hey, Fran. I got your message to read this article.
Last night, I was talking with one of my good friends for hours (up to 4:00 in the morning! As you can imagine, my eyes are still heavy now). We talk about many things. I told him how I’m moving into the dorm and not taking my telelvision. He said he is removing his, as well. He told me he can’t play videogames anymore because he feels like he’s spending time that could be used to do what he REALLY wants to do. I told him “That’s why I’m getting rid of TV. I don’t mind doing pointless stuff like games or watching ‘The Jersey Shore’. What I don’t like is that when the game and the show is over, I am still there in front of the television for no reason… and I do the same thing with the internet!!” He agreed. I told him how “there are so many things I want to do in a day and I just waste it away. And I go to bed thinking ‘Tomorrow, I will finish’ but I do the exact same thing…”
Anyway, thankyou for sending out that e-mail. Reading this has really saved me from doing the same thing to my day that I did yesterday and the day before. … The perfect day. What is my perfect day? And why can’t I just go do it? I will.
