What Can Filtered Water Do For Your Skin?

waterI’m embarrassed to admit this. Okay, here goes …I bought a Readers Digest. To my defence, I was sick and I picked up anything that looked trashy in the drugstore that I could read it bed :P

So I was reading the digest and I came across this article that I never thought I’d find in a Readers Digest of all places. It was about how drinking out of plastic bottles is really bad for you, and how leaving the bottle in the car to heat up and morph out of shape [and then drinking out of it again] is even worse. Why was this so amazing to read? Because this information has been circulating the natural therapy books and magazines for years, and I was so incredibly happy to find that it has reached mainstream media.

So what does all of this have to do with our skin and acne? Well, a lot actually. Because drinking 6-8 glasses of filtered water each and every day is a great way to keep acne away (hey that rhymes). It’s not going to be the miraculous cure to get rid of your severe cystic acne, but it will make a significant difference if you’re not drinking enough water right now. AND, there are a couple of things you need to keep in mind, like is your water filtered and what are you drinking out of.

Well, damn..all I do is drink water out of bottles. I do so, as to not get all those chemical residues in the tap water as I have no filter here. As for how much I drink, I drink about 6 to 8 glasses a day and that is all I do drink now and I have seen a general improvement in my skin I will say.

So I guess I got to go get a filter now lol. But until then, would you think tap water be better or worse than drinking the “purer” water in plastic bottles? (I am in the U.S. if that helps)

And your looking good, course that room didn’t have the best lighting but hey from what I see, your doing well! :)

I drink a cup of water hourly. It’s easy to remember.

It is true that tap water is better even better with a filter.
Here the tap water gets checked on 57 chemicals while bottled water are checked on 15 chemicals.
The other disadvantage is that bottled water often contains large pieces of anorganic minerals which can’t be absorbed by your body.
The pieces can get stuck in the intercellular fluid and actually dry the cell out.
And it’s not that chemicals from the plastic will get in the water but chemicals could get in while bottling them. Those chemicals are carcinogenic which means it can cause cancer.
Also filters aren’t that useful or you need to get a really good one which is also expensive.

I am allergic to latex. If my skin happens to contact latex can a rash break out?

I’m just curious what about freezing water bottles and drinking from them through out the day fair? How bad is it? What can I be drinking during that process on a daily bases? Thank You!!

Hi Tanya, drinking filtered water is best for you, and preferably out of glass bottles. But if you can only drink tap water out of plastic, then it’s better than not drinking water at all.
