Most important to me is that the ingredients are from a quality, high strength source, that it is cost effective and that of course, (unlike so many products I have tried) is effective in treating and helping my skin become free of acne. (so far, nothing except the pill has, and that gave me horendous headaches as a result so had to stop, pimples are back!)

That it makes my skin feel nourished and make me feel like a goddess, bringing inner beauty out.

#4 Emilia on 03.03.10 at 9:47 pm

I prefer products which contain oils as little as possible, because I have noticed that for example coconut oil and olive oil make my face break out. It’s quite difficult to find that kind of organic skin care stuff but thank God for Bee Yummy Skinfood :)

#5 Laura on 03.03.10 at 9:50 pm

I don’t like artificial fragrances in products

#6 Rekkha on 03.03.10 at 9:57 pm

The fact that there are no chemicals in the products gives me a sense of security when using organic products.

#7 Cynthia Wegner on 03.03.10 at 10:06 pm

Quality and usefullness in each ingredient. No fillers, no perfumes, no fluff.

#8 chrissi1981 on 03.03.10 at 10:11 pm

Most important thing … Is to go back to the basics. Use natural oils and herbs derived straight from organic land that is essential to me :)

#9 Lim Ying Hui on 03.03.10 at 10:14 pm

Hello
I appreciate the fact that IF these organic skincare products can be eaten. If they are good enough to be edible, they’re good enough to be used on my skin!

#10 Leah on 03.03.10 at 10:15 pm

That i can understand what the ingredients are & that they are nourishing & helpful to my skin, not harmful, making me break out or drying out my skin.

#11 Jywoi on 03.03.10 at 10:19 pm

For me, the most important thing in an organic skin care is the ingredients, I can spend one hour just reading themn searching for a bad one, that will prevent me from buying the product

;) H&K

#12 Victoria on 03.03.10 at 10:20 pm

To me, the most important quality in organic skin care that I value, is the fact that when I use a product , it is made from natural ingredients, that when the product is absorbed into my skin, and thus into by body, it will not cause harm to my entire system, that it will not help my skin at the expense of my overall health.

#13 Danielle on 03.03.10 at 10:22 pm

Just as I look at ingredient lists on food labels, I look for ingredients that I know recognize, and can pronounce! It also helps if I know that the ingredients are edible as well. Nothing is more tempting than seeing a list of yummy and nourishing foods.

#14 Olivia on 03.03.10 at 10:23 pm

The most important quality in organic skin care that I truly value is the product being as natural as can be and gentle to the touvh. I belive that quality over quantity is what real matters. Also, beautiful, healthy, glowing skin comes from the inside out. We ALL are beautiful! Thank you for is wonderful oppurtunity. THANK YOU. :)

#15 thorcam on 03.03.10 at 10:30 pm

Most important is not to irritate my skin because it turns red…i hate red

#16 Onyi on 03.03.10 at 10:33 pm

I would value a skin care product that is 100% natural and is able to treat yourskin with love, i.e, moisturise, relieve any inflammations, not cause breakouts and give no side effects.

#17 Inka on 03.03.10 at 10:34 pm

I think ingredients should be organic, antibacterial and non-comedogenic, but I also prefer a light fluid consistence an a matting effect, because oily products stay on my skin the whole day whether they’re helpful or not…

#18 Laura Jane on 03.03.10 at 10:41 pm

For me, being chemical free is the most important thing. As living tissue, I don’t want my face, of all things, poisoned. Keep it clear!

#19 Rachel on 03.03.10 at 10:49 pm

I value the sustainability of the organic ingredients! It’s nice to think that a product that works to protect your skin, is at the same time preventing damage to ecosystems where the ingredients have been sourced. I believe organic skincare gives you that extra ‘halo’ glow, from knowing that you’ve tried to work with nature.

#20 Olivia_S on 03.03.10 at 11:02 pm

I not only look at the product to make sure it has no chemicals but also at the company producing the product. I am not going to buy a product if the company is not environmentally responsible

#21 Marisa on 03.03.10 at 11:08 pm

That there are no nano-particles, which can bypass defensive barriers in the body.

#22 Amalia on 03.03.10 at 11:09 pm

That I feel safe, happy and beautiful when i’m using it because i trust that it was made by people with my best interests at heart and love ^_^.

#23 Chelle_T on 03.03.10 at 11:13 pm

Bombarded with pollution, smog, sun, dirt, preservatives, oil, and sweat- our skin deserves soothing, natural affection. Organic skin care breaks through the artificial and synthetic chemicals, and restores a natural, earthly rejuvenation of the skin. I want skin care that won’t aggravate my skin, but clarify and moisturize.

#24 Maya on 03.03.10 at 11:19 pm

Skincare with simple formulations is most important to me. The fewer the ingredients, the better.

#25 Kat on 03.03.10 at 11:19 pm

I want my products to be free of harmful and toxic chemicals. My skin is an organ, and I wouldn’t put cancer causing chemicals into my heart, so why should I put them on my skin?

#26 Jessa on 03.03.10 at 11:23 pm

For me, it’s important that they won’t do harm to my body or the environment.

#27 Samantha Gerbine on 03.03.10 at 11:23 pm

The the products are actually organic!!! The company needs to be honest about the product they are selling :)

#28 nicole on 03.03.10 at 11:24 pm

The quality that I value the most is that it feels really gentle on my skin. I feel safe using all-natural, organic products on my face.

#29 Danielle on 03.03.10 at 11:26 pm

That’s a good question! I’m not quite sure how to answer it…I think the simplicity of the whole thing is really ‘valuable,’ though. I love that skin care has to do with food, because that makes acne so easy and universally heal-able. The best part of organic skincare is that not only are you treating your skin, but you’re taking care of your entire body as well! That means more to me than any cleanser or mask or toner ever has or would. And I think that poor skin is a blessing in disguise, because if I didn’t have acne, I KNOW I never would have stumbled across this site or Dr. Mercola’s, and I’d be living with Advil in my future cupboards and Alzheimer’s in my future husband. But now I’m actually glad I have it, because I know that it’s just my organs trying to do their job, and that they need a little bit of help.
So, to clarify, the versatility/simplicity of the food aspect and how it forces you to actually PAY ATTENTION to your body is what gets me crazy for organic skincare.

And thank you so much, Fran, for making this site. Even if I don’t win the skincare pack, this website is free and worth more than any product around (so please don’t start charging membership Dx)!

Disclaimer-just read one of the reviews on ‘Eat Away Your Acne’-sorry if I sound like Prathiba Balu, but it was entirely unintentional. I’ve thought that acne was a sheep in wolf’s clothing for quite some time now…and that’s purely coincidence. xD

#30 Danielle on 03.03.10 at 11:30 pm

…and now I know that you were talking specifically about products in general. :D That doesn’t really change much. The most important quality in any given item is that it’s entirely natural/doesn’t have chemicals of any sort. Second most important quality would have to be the simplicity. The raw-er the product, the better. And the fewer ingredients, the more likely I am to purchase it. It’s nice to be able to read a label and actually KNOW what you’re purchasing.

#31 Anne on 03.03.10 at 11:31 pm

When I started to use natural skin care products, I wanted to heal my acne. Well, it turned out that it didn’t do that, at least not alone. Instead I noticed that my skin was feeling better after I started to use natural skin care: it was smoother and not dry anymore.
I think natural skin care is not solution for one skin problem, it’s solution for overall health of the skin. It’s a part of healthy life. When I use natural skin care, I now that I’m not harming myself, nature or animals.
The most important quality is healhtiness and safety.

#32 Jessicat on 03.03.10 at 11:31 pm

There are many things I value about organic skin care, that it comes from the earth, it’s purity, it’s simplicity.
I think what i value the most is it’s impact on the environment. By using natural skin care products less damage is being done to our beautiful earth. I now have 3 nephews under the age of three and they sure do make you look at life and your priorities different. I want to do everything I can to ensure that they have a great future and a world to have it in!

#33 Chris B on 03.03.10 at 11:37 pm

The most important quality in an Organic skin care product is that It needs to be made with tender love and care. By that I mean the process in making it should involve environmentally friendly and sustainable practices that support the community at large. I truly believe that products made this way are not only effective, but also connect with the person on an emotional level. A few years back when I was using lotions and potions from Neutrogena, L’oreal, Clean and Clear, prescription drugs…etc, I finally realized that these products were geared on making a profit of my skin problems, through deceiving and luring advertisements. Organic Products (mostly) are conscious of the end user and all that are involved in the process of making it. At the end of the day, these products work and make us feel beautiful from the inside out. :)

#34 Hannah on 03.03.10 at 11:40 pm

For me, what truly important is that the ingredients in the product I use are safe for my skin, does not irritate or do damage instead of nurturing and soothing the skin. I like to use product that has intergrity. Most importantly though is that it’s hassle-free and fun because doing something repeatedly can sometimes feels like chore hahah my skin has too love it too <3

#35 Claire on 03.03.10 at 11:44 pm

I like honesty in my skincare products – I want to know exactly what the ingredients are and exactly where they came from.

#36 B.B. on 03.03.10 at 11:47 pm

The most important thing for me is that there are no harsh chemicals.

#37 Elly on 03.03.10 at 11:48 pm

That the products are fair trade if they import any of the ingredients.
Another important value to me is that the product doesn’t contain anything that will aggravate my skincondition.

#38 vicki on 03.03.10 at 11:51 pm

The product is free from as many chemicials as possible. Feels good, smells good and works. I also like the company to be responsible environmentally and the packaging to be minimal and/or be able to recycle.
Thanks for the blog!

#39 Kristina on 03.03.10 at 11:56 pm

The most important thing is that your body is taking ingredients that they know how to use, going back to the basics and getting rid of chemicals, parabans, fillers, etc.

#40 Nicole on 03.04.10 at 12:00 am

The most important thing to me about organic skin care is that the product won’t irritate my sensitive skin which means no chemicals or unnatural ingredients. Also, I want my skin to feel clean and fresh not overly dry from the wash. Overall I want no harsh chemicals and for my skin to feel clean and fresh! God knows I’ve tried so many things on my skin and organic products have always worked the best for me :)

#41 Juanita on 03.04.10 at 12:05 am

Not tested on animals is the most important of all skincare and no hidden nasties

#42 Shay on 03.04.10 at 12:12 am

The most important aspect for me is that the product is not tested on animals in any way, shape, or form.

#43 Melissa on 03.04.10 at 12:14 am

The peace of mind that comes with knowing that I’m not adding any extra (and unnecessary!) chemicals to my delicate skin.

Plus organics are so much more of a treat and soothing for the soul. A simple approach to skincare just feels right :)

#44 Sara on 03.04.10 at 12:15 am

The average woman uses over two hundred harmful chemicals on her skin daily and 60% of them are absorbed into the bloodstream. So it’s important to me, that my skin care products are chemical free, pesticide free and cruelty free. I don’t want to stress or shock my skin. Organic products are looking out for my own health and helping to protect our ecosystem.

#45 Debra on 03.04.10 at 12:22 am

I value effectiveness & the most “natural” organic ingredients possible.

I love fast results that do not add additional toxins to my body. =)

#46 Caroline on 03.04.10 at 12:26 am

The most important thing for me is that I’m not exposing my skin to chemicals. After having found out that my other (toxic) make-up was the cause of my really bad skin condition (when I discovered your blog), I realized how important it it what you put on your skin. Since then I’ve only used natural products and my skin is much better!

#47 Sandi on 03.04.10 at 12:33 am

The most important quality of organic skin care that I would value is the products actually being completely organic. Some products claim to be all natural or organic and slip in an ingredient or two that does not mesh with the organic label and can be quite irritating to your skin. Organic doesn’t necessarily mean it WON’T irritate your skin, but at least there will be no synthetically made chemical causes, and you can then narrow your reaction to a smaller list of ingredients in order to avoid the offending item in the future.

An of course they also would have to have the correct consistencies to perform their individuals tasks (eye cream, face lotion, etc) and be formulated correctly to give your skin the intended benefit.

#48 yan on 03.04.10 at 12:43 am

Organic products have to be cost-effective and do more than just not causing break out and irritate the skins. it needs to moisturizers, exfoliants and treats the problem skins like oiliness, dryness, and acne etc…
i used organic “juice beauty ” products before, it is expensive & it didn’t stop me from breaking out. It’s moisturizers are sticky to touch & hard to absorb into the skin. Simply applying pure honey as mask did more good to my skin than buying expensive masks.

#49 Deck on 03.04.10 at 12:44 am

This one is easy :)

Organic ingredients all the way.

#50 Sonya on 03.04.10 at 12:46 am

Something that nourishes and feeds my skin with nothing added that I couldn’t in effect eat!!!

#51 Jon on 03.04.10 at 12:58 am

That the products works and nourishes your skin in a way that makes you look and feel good. If the product is not 100% organic thats not that important as long as it feel right for you and who you are.

#52 Alison on 03.04.10 at 12:59 am

I like products that have the most natural ingredients. With no fragrance and no alcohol and mostly no oil.
(:

#53 Ani on 03.04.10 at 1:02 am

What I personally value most is the confidence to know that you can use organic skincare without it being harmful or damaging to your body. It veritably helps heal you over time. Instead of causing other problems and leading to a buildup of toxins like many of the products and processes the larger society endorses, organic products that come from a good source and are propoerly prepared don’t focus on one-shot overnight improvements, but rather, in building long-term continuity and sustainable healing. I love them!

#54 Anne on 03.04.10 at 1:10 am

Hello!
For me, the most important thing in an organic skin care is that it respects life: in its ingredients, making, selling and use. It has to show that the making of the product didn’t contribute to the killing if animals or their habitat. Also, the people selling it have to have good working condition. Finally, its use must help the body to live at comfort.

[Great work Fran, such a fan of your blog! :) ]

#55 Mindy on 03.04.10 at 1:11 am

No chemicals, just real, simple ingredients I know and can read.

#56 Deana on 03.04.10 at 1:15 am

Does not break me out, makes me feel beautiful and pampered.

#57 Dani on 03.04.10 at 1:19 am

My skin gets irritated easily. Every other product than has synthetic ingredients has damaged & burned my skin. I believe it’s extremely important because whatever you put on your skin is absorbed into your body and can cause serious problem. Organicingredients is the best way!!

#58 Ingrid on 03.04.10 at 1:22 am

I’d say the most important characteristic in organic beauty products is not only that they are certified organic, but that the companies are also doing their part for the environment by providing earth friendly packaging, growing their own ingredients or getting them from a source that is truly reliable (ie. lived up the the organic certification regulations of farming) and that also has good people behind it.
When you’re dealing with organic products of any kind it’s not just about what is inside the package. It’s what’s outside as well. We as consumers need to be conscience of all of these factors, weening out the companies that may not “walk the walk”. If you’re going organic, you should be going for the whole package!

#59 Sol on 03.04.10 at 1:22 am

What I value the most in organic skin care products is that they are chemicals free. It feels safe to put them on your skin. I also value simple formulas :)

#60 Kara on 03.04.10 at 1:29 am

The most important quality in organic skin care is that the experience of using it is as great, sumptuous, enjoyable, as yummy as the product’s ingredients.

#61 Fee on 03.04.10 at 1:29 am

The most important quality that I value is the quality and honesty in products. I like being able to read ingredients without difficult and easily being able to find how it helps me! :)

#62 johnjohn on 03.04.10 at 1:31 am

i think that the most imortant quality is effectiveness. It may take longer, but using organic and natural products ensure lasting results. I also feel better knowing what I’m using.

#63 V on 03.04.10 at 1:32 am

The most important quality to me in organic skin care is that the products are not just substitutes for their non-organic counterparts with all the fillers included, but that they can actually stand on their own and nourish and encourage the skin in their natural processes. I don’t want something that masks symptoms, but really works with my skin to bring out its own beauty.

#64 Stephanie on 03.04.10 at 1:40 am

To me, the most important quality of an organic product, or product containing organic ingredients is that the ingredient itself is proven safe and beneficial. the term ‘Organic’ has become a buzz word, especially in very health conscious communities to promote and advertise certain products. Yet, while just about anything can be ‘natural’ or ‘organic’ it does not necessarily mean they are healthy and or beneficial to actually use or consume. It has become alarming to me the amount of people who associate the use of the term ‘Organic’ with ‘Safe’ or ‘Better’.. when there are still times where this isn’t the case.

It is important to me that ‘organic’ is still tested thoroughly and completely and not just used as a promotional term. The goal (I would assume) is not necessarily to stay away from anything processed or not completely natural, but to achieve optimum health inside and out.. and I agree that one of the ways to achieve this is to stay close to the earth and limit extended processing/modification.

Poison Ivy is natural and organic.. but I wouldn’t want to rub it into my skin!

Be Healthy! :)

#65 Kate on 03.04.10 at 1:47 am

That I recognize all of the ingredients and that they are gentle enough to use on sensitive skin. Even so-called “organic” products can be too harsh.

#66 Garret on 03.04.10 at 1:54 am

“What is the most important quality in organic skin care that you would value?”.

That it works! I have dealt with acne for 3 years and am frustrated beyond words! I have tried Proactive, Retin-A, tetricycline, numerous BP regimens, Clean & Clear’s treatment kit, Acne Free, and the list keeps going — every one of these treatments has done nothing but make my skin worse and I am sick of it! I stay on each treatment for months on end, hoping my skin will look better the next morning; only to wake up and see it’s worse. I completely changed my diet 6 months ago, started drinking more water, drinking green and red tea, using TTO — initially, my skin gets perfect, literally overnight! All of the redness from my scars goes away and my skin is perfectly clear. This lasts for 3, maybe 4 days, then overnight, my skin gets aweful; all of the redness comes out and my skin gets oily — this is how every treatment I have ever used works and I am sick of it!

So, my answer would be “something that is effective and does not make my skin worse for the first 6 months!” — although, I think this is impossible!

#67 Christina on 03.04.10 at 1:54 am

I have very sensitive skin and seem to break out more when I try out new products, including organics. So it’s really important to me that they clearly mark allergens so that I know it’s the product and not just my face freaking out.

#68 Mackenzie on 03.04.10 at 1:55 am

Locally made (because you have to support local busnesses), not tested on animals and biodigradable.

#69 Matt on 03.04.10 at 1:57 am

the most important thing would be that there aren’t any bad chemicals that are in most off the shelf products

#70 Ashley on 03.04.10 at 2:03 am

The most important quality in organic skin care to me would be that it contains noncomedegenic ingredients.

#71 Irina on 03.04.10 at 2:11 am

The most important quality in organic skin care is that it can heal skin naturally;it has to have a nice smell to it, and packaged well.

#72 sara on 03.04.10 at 2:13 am

the most important thing is to be really organic so many companies says that the product is organic but it’s not and it contains chemicals, the best thing that it’s organic but without chemicals :)

#73 Kitty on 03.04.10 at 2:18 am

I love not having chemicals in my skin/body care. I feel better using them that way :)

#74 katie on 03.04.10 at 2:20 am

Skincare without ingredients I can’t pronounce/identify. :)

#75 Victoria on 03.04.10 at 2:20 am

To me, that there are no chemicals to harm my skin, dry it out and make my acne three times worse, is the most important quality in organic skin care products. I’m always stressing over what to buy and what not to because of products containing alcohol, comedogenic and irritating ingredients, so organic is usually my best choice.
I think it’s also nice to know that you’re using something natural. It gives you confidence in the product.

However, in the end, the key word is efficiency. I don’t mind a product that doesn’t give me any visible results (of course it would be nice to have that one magical product that’d fully heal your skin… one can always dream); I don’t fully rely on products anyway. But if things are getting worse and I’m eating fine, working out fine, then it’s definitely a no-no.

#76 Vy on 03.04.10 at 2:20 am

The most important quality in organic skin care is the fact that all the ingredients are natural and gentle enough for sensitive skin. It needs to be healing and won’t clog the pores. Also, it needs to nourish and make our skin better.

#77 Chandana on 03.04.10 at 2:21 am

The most important qualities in organic skin care are that it effectively works to reduce pimples & does not contain any harsh chemical substances/preservatives that can be harmful to the body. I follow by the the motto that the products that you put on your skin should be safe to eat. The ingredients should be pure-that is why it is dubbed “organic” skin care line.

#78 Claire on 03.04.10 at 2:25 am

The thing I value most about organic skincare is that it is cruelty free. I love animals and see no reason for them to suffer to make me look good.

#79 Lynda on 03.04.10 at 2:26 am

Anything that is put on the skin gets absorbed into the body. So I want to be good to it. So the quality I find most important is the goodness of natural ingredients which comes from Mother Earth. The simplicity coming from Mother Earth’s natural resources can greatly be a means of nourishment for my skin and also won’t harm our environment. It is a win-win situation. Since switching to using natural, organic products formulated to my skin type, so far I get nothing but positive results using them. I am a believer!

#80 Jay on 03.04.10 at 2:27 am

That is paraben free

#81 Ember on 03.04.10 at 2:30 am

The most important qualities in organic skin care that I search for is just simplicity. I don’t want any harsh chemicals or random colourings added in. I prefer making my own skin care recipes because then I know what’s in them. The ingredients should be fresh, 100% organic, no chemicals added in their growing process, just simply pure =)

#82 butterfly on 03.04.10 at 2:30 am

The most important quality to me is that it works for me and on my skin, because a product can have super duper ingredients and a bunch of healing stuff in it, but if my skin doesn’t like it, then there’s no purpose of me applying it. Like with all skin products, natural or chemical, it’s all about trail and error. :)

#83 Michelle Nicole B on 03.04.10 at 2:37 am

An important quality in organic skin care that I value most would have to be whether or not it is gentle enough for my skin. Even with organic products, you have to watch out for ingredients that may irritate or aggravate the skin. I keep an eye on the most simplest, purest ingredients. That tends to work for me! -Michelle

#84 Gina on 03.04.10 at 2:37 am

To me the most important quality in organic skin care is that it be non-irritating. Just because it’s organic or natural doesn’t mean it’s good for your skin, for example BT is a ‘natural’ pesticide (made by the bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis) but I don’t want it on my skin

#85 Megan on 03.04.10 at 2:47 am

To me the most important thing is a lack of chemicals and parabens. We have enough ways of encountering toxins during our day, I don’t want my morning routine to be one of them.

#86 Piriya on 03.04.10 at 2:51 am

Hiya Fran,

By now, most of us realize that there is no such thing as a magic skin cream. However, the closest thing to it is an all natural organic skin care product that uses specific ingredients that will actually help to increase the production of vital skin proteins.

Another reason to appreciate and value and to use organic products is that so many products these days contain ingredients that can be harmful to your skin. Consumers are avoiding chemical based products for good reason. Some creams and lotions have been found to contain ingredients that are potentially harmful to your skin.

An all natural organic skin care product will not contain ingredients such as mineral oil, fragrances and parabens. These ingredients are all harmful to your skin in some way. Parabens are the worst of the lot. They are preservatives that are added to give the product a longer shelf life. This means it will stay on the store shelf until someone actually buys it.

Parabens have been found in the breast tissue of women suffering from breast cancer. Although, it is inconclusive as to whether the parabens caused the cancer. It is still advisable to avoid any product that contains this potential carcinogen.

Mineral oil is used because it is a cheap additive and it will make your skin feel soft. However, it will clog your pores, which can lead to acne breakouts. Organic skin care products will not contain this type of oil.

Fragrances are added to give the cream/skin care products a pleasant smell. However, fragrances lead to skin irritations and allergic reactions.

The most effective all natural organic skin care products will contain specific natural ingredients that will help stimulate the body into producing more proteins. These proteins are vital in the overall health of your skin.

The main proteins are collagen and elastin. Collagen is a fiber like protein that provides structure to your skin. Elastin is a protein that gives your skin its elasticity.

As you age, your body produces less and less of these proteins. Thankfully, there are specific natural substances that will stimulate the re-growth of these proteins.

The best all natural organic skin care products will contain these specific substances. Therefore, I will definitely encourage others and myself to buy and use organic skin care products. :) and I would like to thank you for taking time to read my response. I’ve read your blogs and it is so amazing. Way to go, girl! :) God bless!

For me, it’s how well and fast it absorbs into my skin. I’ve used a few organic products in the past that just sits on my skin and it’s really messy! Especially if I want to apply make up on afterwards.

#88 Maribel on 03.04.10 at 3:01 am

The most important thing for me is to feel my skin hidrated and that the product is natural and organic. I like to see the ingredients in the package without syntetic fragances, and chemicals.chemicals that would harm my body. For me is very important to use high quality products like this one that would help my skin health and help to cure acne, and everything related with my skin health.all of those aspects are very important to me.

#89 Meghan on 03.04.10 at 3:01 am

I love organic skin care products because I know I am using a product with no chemicals in it! I also love that most of these products are not tested on animals, and are vegan or at least vegetarian.
I love supporting companies that make organic skin care products because I know I am getting something of quality that will make my skin feel good, and I know I’m doing something good for the earth as well!

#90 Octobergirl on 03.04.10 at 3:09 am

The fact that organic products are pretty much fear-free. I don’t have to ask myself “what’s in them, is it toxic, is long-term use going to affect my health?” I can relax and know that, even if organic products aren’t acne cure-alls, they are a part of healthy living and help me to look and feel better to boot!

#91 Julia on 03.04.10 at 3:09 am

The most important thing for me is that it does all good for my skin. I’m so sick of products actually worsening things, and with organic skin products it always feels a little more secure. Which of course is great. And another thing is that it’s a lot more likely that it’s vegan. And vegan stuff is grrreat. Vegetarian too, but vegan is awesome!

#92 Casey on 03.04.10 at 3:10 am

Knowing that it would be natural, and helping my skin. I would know that I would be putting amazing natural items on.

#93 VALERIE on 03.04.10 at 3:27 am

Ever since I started Organics products my skin is clearer and not as itchy as when I used the not so natural ones.

It’s easy to read the label and some of the ingredients might even be in my fridge.

Well, I am doing good to my skin and to the planet.

#94 Laura K on 03.04.10 at 3:32 am

“What is the most important quality in organic skin care that you would value?”.

There are several aspects of organic skincare that I love and value. Firstly is that organic skincare products are products that I can feel good about putting on my face and body. I know that my skin is absorbing everything I put on it, and with organic skincare, there is no guilt. Secondly is that organic skincare products are often made with environment friendly packaging, which I love. Thirdly is that they smell amazing! And with all those natural ingridients, you know your skin will really benefit from the product. I feel like organic skincare can live up to the promises they make, unlike products which are loaded with chemicals. And if they are cruelty-free, then that is the icing on the cake!

Thanks so much!! Laura xoxo

#95 Beth on 03.04.10 at 3:34 am

When the ingredients in a skincare product are naturally-sourced as well as organically cultivated, I feel safe putting them onto my skin, and I feel good about my choice for the environment.

#96 Christina on 03.04.10 at 3:36 am

Natural ingredients that has no side effect on our health. Also, that it is very effective in treating our skin.

#97 Melanie on 03.04.10 at 3:37 am

The most important feature in organic skin care is a balance between cost effectiveness and product quality. Although I am always willing to pay a bit more for products that are free of chemicals, organic, herbal, not tested on animals, and made by companies with a social conscience. Once I’ve read the label and find that I am comfortable with putting it on my skin, one major indicator of quality for me is, how does it smell? Smell to me is one of the most natural ways for my body to respond to any product. If it doesn’t smell wonderful/herbal/refreshing, sure enough a breakout occurs.
Thank you for the work you do, Fran. I am so grateful for this resource. I hope to be able to help my skin recover from whatever it seems to be unhappy about.

#98 Kevin on 03.04.10 at 3:43 am

Simplicity. There’s too many organic skin care products that pour endless supposedly healing ingredients which just end up cancelling each other out and may cause a lot more harm than a regular toxic skin care product. An organic skin care product should keep things to a basic solid foundation which is simple but very effective for users.

#99 Lulu on 03.04.10 at 3:49 am

its natural and less harmful to the skin=)

#100 Liisi on 03.04.10 at 3:50 am

Most important for me is purity of products. Less is more for me and if they come straight from nature then it is somethenge I will use. I yust LOVE all kind of skin olis starting with olive oil and finishing with emu oli. Ald I also love sweets for my skin like sugar or honey witch have so many good things in it as you know. And of course green tea inside and out :D So the best products are 100% natural!
Best!

#101 Aika on 03.04.10 at 3:55 am

Organic skincare products without chemicals or added fragrances that deliver results is at the top of my list. It’ll be a balm/food that my skin can absorb without harm. Safe, and cost effective yet works like a charm. =)

#102 Isabelle on 03.04.10 at 3:58 am

The most important thing for my products is for them to be made up of basic, organic, chemical-free, all natural ingredients; that the ingredients were as local as possible to the source of production; that the product and ingredients themselves weren’t designed to maximize sales but rather maximize health. In short, they are effective using the least stuff possible, and it was made with a holistic vision in mind from beginning to end.

#103 Phoebe on 03.04.10 at 4:05 am

The most important quality to me is that the product is non irritating, simple and makes my skin feel great and clean after I use it! Its always great when the product smells nice too!

#104 Jamie L. on 03.04.10 at 4:06 am

Just anything that is organic that won’t cause my skin to go crazy! Something that makes me feel like im putting something good onto my skin and not something that is going to harm it more.

#105 Rachael on 03.04.10 at 4:15 am

I want to use products thats are simple but that also work. For me natural/organic products seem to cause fewer problems for me.

#106 Nuša on 03.04.10 at 4:19 am

That the products are non-comedogenic, non-irritating, moisturizing,…

But far the most important quality is the product’s mild effect on the skin. The product has to be mild as possible, because the skin was made to protect us from outer impacts and it is also capable of taking care of itself. So we don’t need to interfere too much. Just to help it a little bit. :)

#107 Rachel on 03.04.10 at 4:28 am

Knowing that since it IS organic, it’s going to have
the least amount of toxic chemicals present and further
helping to keep my skin healthy, young and free acne and
other build up caused by the chemicals put in soaps, lotions
and other skin products.

#108 Shauna on 03.04.10 at 4:28 am

I highly value products that are multi-use. I love finding products that are all natural, organic, and non-toxic, and also nourish your skin. I also appreciate when I am researching new products that the company gives as much information as possible, and shows that they have taken time and care to put the best ingredients in thier skin care line for thier consumers.

#109 Craig on 03.04.10 at 4:29 am

I prefer products that feel very gentle on my face. I believe in skin’s ability to heal itself with the right kind of help in modest amounts. I cannot trust that a product will kill bacteria and allow my skin to breathe if it leaves me feeling greasy or worn down.

#110 Alicia on 03.04.10 at 4:40 am

I value an organic skin care line that will support the healing and rejuvenation of my skin. I have really bad cystic acne so something that will make my skin dewy but not oily or flaky both of which clog my pores and lead to cysts! Organic skin care allows my skin to heal and balances it instead of putting it in an artificial state like so many synthetic / inorganic products. My skin knows how to properly respond to pure organic ingredients and I would love the opportunity to try this organic skin care line. Thanks for always running awesome contests Fran!

#111 Holly on 03.04.10 at 4:41 am

The most important thing to me is quality and effectiveness. I also do not want to use any harsh chemicals. So many of the products I’ve tried have only dried my skin out making my acne worse. I want my skin to be healthy and balanced and I want to achieve it in the most natural way possible.

#112 Corielle James on 03.04.10 at 4:41 am

No Sulfur byproducts. Sulfates, sulfites, sulfoacetates, etc. Also no green tea. (I have a terrible allergy to all of those. And no “hidden” ingredients. I have had too many terrible reactions to count because some company found a new name to call green tea or sodium lauryl sulfate.

#113 Ashley on 03.04.10 at 4:49 am

Increasingly, I’m trying to have most of my skin products follow the rule “If I wouldn’t eat it, it shouldn’t go on my skin” and when that’s not possible I like the ingredients to be as purely sourced as possible.

#114 Ashley on 03.04.10 at 4:50 am

The most important quality I value in an organic skin care product is how it makes me feel. :-) A beautifying product pulled from Mother Earth makes me feel resplendent.

#115 Michelle on 03.04.10 at 5:07 am

I love using products on my skin that I know will work on the outside but not damage me inside!

#116 Tavish on 03.04.10 at 5:09 am

For me, the most important quality in organic skincare would have to be that the ingredients are certified organic and the product is not tested on animals.

#117 Ahrian on 03.04.10 at 5:09 am

I value natural, organic, chemical free products, that really will make me feel -and hopefully look- like im positively glowing :)
Something that won’t irritate my skin and makes me feel good about myself, and at the same time isn’t just feeding my skin with things it doesnt need.
But the thing i would have to value the most is effectiveness, and you can be sure that using the right organic products (even if it does take some time!) will be effective :)

#118 sky on 03.04.10 at 5:09 am

for me, what i value most in skin care are products that are safe to use, gentle and effective. the more natural, the better! :)

#119 Jennifer on 03.04.10 at 5:12 am

The most important quality in organic skincare would be no chemicals or irritants. I have very sensitive skin, am allergic to Benzoyl Peroxide and it seems to break out, turn red and peel very easy. Knowing products are organic and all natural puts my mind at ease and takes the worry out regarding any possible reactions my skin might have. I am always looking at all labels for my skin as well as my food. Before there were all of these preservatives and chemicals, people lived with food, skincare, hair products, etc. that were directly from the earth and they didn’t have half of the problems that we have nowadays. Besides, I want to be a good role model to my kids and show them that being healthy has a LOT more benefits than negatives. Hopefully, they grow up knowing that I put a lot of love, time and caring in the products I choose for them as well as myself.

Thank-you for all that you do and being such an inspiration to us all!

#120 Veronika on 03.04.10 at 5:13 am

I value when an organic skincare company seeks quality natural ingredients that are not chemical toxins, and allow the skin to be nourished and heal on its own. I also value that it’s not tested on animals and that it supports organic farming and the industry as a whole. And the company usually puts great care & love in the products, which affects how it works with the skin.

#121 Casey on 03.04.10 at 5:14 am

I love to read testimonials that include the type of skin the erson using it had so I have a better idea of how it might work for me. Studies on the ingredients are great too!

#123 Selina on 03.04.10 at 5:14 am

everything the body needs for health and healing is found in nature. I want a product as unadulterated , and close to nature as possible. Organic equates to pure, uncontaminated and as God intended for my body, so the most important quality in organic skin care that you would value is Purity.

#124 dannarian on 03.04.10 at 5:21 am

Finding the right combination of organics to achieve the goal of clearing my acne longer than 2-3 weeks.

#125 Jon Saloukas on 03.04.10 at 5:23 am

The most important things are quality and purity. Many different things work for different people and if you find something that works for you it is important that you are getting it in its most natural form and from the best possible source. For me personally anything that is going on my skin also better be able to go in my stomach!

#126 Kaitlin Cassidy on 03.04.10 at 5:26 am

I think its really important that it has the right ingredients to remove all the impurities from my face. Some non-organic cleansers don’t do that, leaving you with build up and causing more pimples and irritation.

#127 Anna on 03.04.10 at 5:26 am

I appreciate the simplicity of organic products, going back to basics.Love the fact that they’re derived from natural sources.
Just recently I dumped all my cosmetics, and I stick with Physicians Formula organics, even lip balm…
I also love Aveda products and services.
I love this web site.I foud it just by searching online for natural acne solutions, since I was tired of trying everything on the market and nothing seemed to work,it only got worse. As I found from you Fran that acne could be cause by three things…stress…(which is not in my case,I’m a super-happy stay-at-home mother of busy 2 year old :) hormones (also not in my case-I tried all kind of pills, for years, nothing has helped me…) or simply allergy – and I was testing everything I ate, keeping a jurnal…and what I found was…..that MEAT was causing/triggering my acne……as soon I I stop eating it I’m just fine!!!
So many years of fighting with my cystic acne (I was about to go on Accutane-but since we’re trying for a baby at that time, the doctor -thank God- said no).
So as simple as it sounds – no meat = no acne for me.
I assume that the meat we’re consuming here in the States is just filled with antybiotics and hormones…and this probably has an effect on my body.
At least that’s what it seems.I had to figure it out by myslef, and it was worth it.
So for everyone out there suffering from cystic acne, please try to eat as much organics as you can – watch for what you’re puuting in your bodies and on your faces – stick with simple routine and simple fresh fruit and veggie diet. Can’t wait for more organic cosmetics on the store shelves.
Thanks Fran for this web site – keep up the good work!

#128 jessica on 03.04.10 at 5:31 am

the fact that it is natural and does not have harmful chemicals or anything like that.

#131 Joseph Cowell |Acne Healing Blog on 03.04.10 at 5:33 am

The most important factor would be effectiveness. There is no point knowing whether it is organic or not if it is not effective at all.

#135 Lisa on 03.04.10 at 5:43 am

No irritation-causing, pore-clogging chemicals!

#136 Jennifer on 03.04.10 at 5:44 am

I greatly appreciate the fact that all organic skin care products have a low impact on the environment. Usually they are made from substances that came from tender love and care in preparation and give back ten fold to the consumer. I hold this as a high value when I purchase things because I love my environment as well as my self;)

#137 Jemima on 03.04.10 at 5:52 am

The most important quality in an organic skin care system is that the product that’s being used on your face makes you feel good using it, inside and out. It feels good to know that what you’re using on your body is great for you and it does the world some good also. You can be a bit selfish and generous at the same time without doing any harm to yourself and the world.

#138 Caroline on 03.04.10 at 5:57 am

The most important thing would have to be the trustworthiness and effectiveness. I want to be able to depend on my products and know that they are helping my skin while aslo being natural.

#139 Linda on 03.04.10 at 5:59 am

That the natural ingredients helps on dry and acne skin at the same time!!

#140 Marie Aamann on 03.04.10 at 6:01 am

the most important thing for me, is that the product is made with only organic ingredients, so that there is nothing in it that can irritate my skin. It would be lovely if I found a product that works perfect for me.

#141 Anita Lockwood on 03.04.10 at 6:14 am

I think if a product is going to claim that it is organic, all the ingredients should be come from a organically grown source and if possible close to the manufacturing site where the product is made to reduce the carbon footprint. It should also have an expiry date as natural preservatives such as Vitamin E or others do not hold a long shelf life.

#142 Lori on 03.04.10 at 6:15 am

I have tried a few natural lines now. The thing that is most important to me is that each organic additive really
does have a function. I don’t just want a bunch of organic things thrown in a bottle without regard to how they will help my skin. It gets expensive when you are on a quest to find healthy skin care.

The other thing that is important is…. Do I have to put my fingers in the product? This will cause any product to grow bacteria, especially natural products.
You can buy little plastic spatulas very cheaply at any beauty supply store. I alcohol mine off each time I use it. I guess working in a lab for 20 has rubbed off on me.

I want a company that stands behind their products.
I wish there was price regulation but that’s a pipe dream.

Good luck to everyone!!

#143 Darja on 03.04.10 at 6:16 am

most important thing is that there’s no parabene or other chemicals.

#144 Anna on 03.04.10 at 6:19 am

The most important thing in a skin care line for me is ethics – ethical products for the planet, for the animals and for myself. I would like to buy a product that doesn’t hurt anyone in it’s process of production and usage – so no harsh chemicals, excessive packaging and animal testing.

#145 Grace on 03.04.10 at 6:21 am

Makes me believe that it works, and gets noticeable results quickly.

#146 maggie on 03.04.10 at 6:22 am

The most important quality I look for when buying organic skincare is that it comes from a reputable source. This way I can be sure that the ingredients are truly whats listed on the label.

#147 Justina on 03.04.10 at 6:28 am

The right combination of natural ingredients which would be able treat everyone gently with the natural power of nature. Also a short, simple list of them.

#148 Adelaide-Marie on 03.04.10 at 6:31 am

What I value the most in organic skin care products is the fact that there is no chemicals added. What I read on the list of ingredients is exactly what I’m putting in my skin. I think in the long run using organic products is best for my over-all health. I also find that using chemical products can cause more harm then good for skin, especially problem skin!

Thank you and good luck to everyone :)

#149 carlsbad on 03.04.10 at 6:32 am

What I value is the care that is put into picking ingredients that are truly healthy & beneficial not only to people but the environment.

#150 Renee on 03.04.10 at 6:38 am

For me, the most important quality is the natural healing properties. Because, I agree with you that the skin has the ability to heal it self. So we shouldn’t use products to battle our skin, but use products to help the healing process. And it’ll make your skin glow, instead of stripping it. I’ve love the organic and natural way of life!

#151 ClaireG on 03.04.10 at 6:39 am

The most important quality in organic skincare for me is purity. Pure, natural, organic ingredients make for beautiful products that make us beautiful. But also purity in the values of the skincare company. When a skincare company values pure ingredients and loves what the do and make, you can trust that they are giving the best product they can offer! It probably will work really great too!!!

#152 Nancy Del Castillo on 03.04.10 at 6:46 am

4 Important Qualities In organic skin care are
1).Excellent reviews
2).100% natural ingrediants
3).Minimize pores
4).Repairs skin.

#153 Hjeather on 03.04.10 at 6:50 am

The only quality I ask in organic skin care is that it deliver. I’ve been extremely let down by brands in the past, and although I try to remain optimistic that there’s still a product out there that can help clear my skin using all natural ingredients, I’ve yet to find it. Perhaps I’m asking for too much? Perhaps- I’m just asking for a miracle.

#154 Teresa Camp on 03.04.10 at 7:04 am

In my mind the most important quality in my skincare products is that the company manufacturing them works dilligently to have ingredients and processing that are as close to nature, environmentially freindly and as humanitarian as possible. There is a lot to say for inention and if a company uses chemicals, unfair trade practices and tests on animals then it is likely the product will be bad for my skin, because the intention for nourishment and healing will be absent. There is a lot more to a product then the ingredients. If we held all companies to these standards then chances are some of environmental factors that contribute to our acne would be remedied.

#155 Amy on 03.04.10 at 7:10 am

Most of all, I think organic products will show their benefits in the long run. Chemical products are obviously unnatural and will cause stress on the skin although I admit somE interventions can be necessary. So the most important quality for me would be that the skincare uses good ingredients that work well together to promote beautiful natural skin in the long run. Thanks Fran!

#156 Diedra Powell on 03.04.10 at 7:17 am

The most important qualities I value in organic skin care is that the ingredients are pure and natural and I am not allergic to them.

#159 Tessa on 03.04.10 at 7:21 am

Integrity. If a company holds true to the values that accompany the green, organic ethos then I know I can trust them to be truly providing the most nourishing care for my skin.
Important among these values are a committment to no animal testing, recyclable packaging, carbon-neutral production and that the ingredients are researched and sourced to be of the highest quality. This ensures that the company is making something they believe in, rather than jumping on the trendy organic bandwagon ;)

#160 Bint on 03.04.10 at 7:26 am

I value the fact that it gives me the best results with the gentlest and most delicate ingredients.

#161 Deb on 03.04.10 at 7:31 am

The most important quality in organic skincare I would value is simplicity! It should be a given that the range is natural and chemical-free. However, if I have to use more than 5 different steps and products to get healthy skin, that is just way too hard and time-consuming. Being a busy mum of 3 under 5, I need a skin-care system that is quick and efficient, with good results. And of course while breastfeeding, something that won’t affect my milk supply.

#162 Amira on 03.04.10 at 7:46 am

The most important quality in organic skin care that I value is that is has NOTHING harmful to my skin! There are so many organic skincare lines that use harmful substances. Organic to me is something that is completely harmfree and healthy and good for the environment. Most organic lines do not deliver. I really love trying new organic skin care lines, but being a studend I cant afford what I need. Thanks for this opportunity!

#163 Shellee on 03.04.10 at 7:53 am

The most important thing about organic skin care to me would be that you could grow your own skin care products without having to rely on chemicals that are in store bought products. Going organic is a healthy way to support your skins natural healing process.

#164 Vadim on 03.04.10 at 7:53 am

Beautiful healing properties of these ingredients, and as the result beautiful skin, and no harmful to the animals and nature!

I think its very important that the products are made by people who believe in the same health and environment(issues) benefits as i do….who believe positively and create positive things…so i can continue in believing and trusting…positive thinking people and in the future…take care xoxo Sue

#166 Dani on 03.04.10 at 8:18 am

I think the most important quality of an organic skin care line is the value and quality of the ingredients used in the products themselves. I want to know that what I’m using is worth the money and worth using on my skin.

#167 Joey on 03.04.10 at 8:19 am

From someone who developed adult acne as a direct result of the chemicals in a single application of makeup, I can fully understand the importance of not only natural, but organic skincare. The chemical additives flared up my skin, which had been clear since I was a teenager. Knowing a product is organic, I can feel safe that there are no hidden nasty chemicals that could potentially ruin my skin all over again.

Also, green produce is important in every industry. And although the focus on organic farming is the food industry, we must not let other players such as pharmaceuticals and health products get away with sub-standard farming techniques. Support organic!

#168 Rachel on 03.04.10 at 8:23 am

I value that organic skincare is beneficial to sensitive skin and contains safe ingredients.

#169 raine on 03.04.10 at 8:25 am

The most important quality in natural skin care that I value is that there are no animal by-products in them. Not only do I feel more confident in the results of the product, but I know that some poor animal isn’t getting slaughtered and being used in preposterous ways. I don’t eat ( or use ) any form of animal or animal-by-product by the way. ;)

#170 andy on 03.04.10 at 8:28 am

i think it is great to go with all natural product but I would like them to WORK.

#171 Trista on 03.04.10 at 8:31 am

I care about what’s not in it. No fruit acid please, or acid of any kind, that doesn’t sound natural, and is really hard on my skin. Also, no hormone laden parabens please :)

#172 Kathryn C on 03.04.10 at 8:33 am

It’s definitely important that there’s a good balance between price and quality.

#173 susan on 03.04.10 at 8:34 am

the most important quality in a organic product is that it DOES what it SAYS it will do!

#174 Thanushiga on 03.04.10 at 8:39 am

I think the most important qualtiy in organic skin care would have to be the fact that not only are the ingredients completely natural but they live up to name. It’s important that the products work for your skin because otherwise why would you use them? It’s great that there’s so many organic alternatives that provide equal and even better results than artificials can.

#175 Mary on 03.04.10 at 8:39 am

The most important quality for organic products is that they don’t force the consumer to sacrifice anything in favor of natural, wholesome remedies. I have tried many organic products that smell awful, leave residue, don’t cleanse thoroughly, etc….I love an organic product that makes me feel like I am using something that is scientifically developed to actually work, rather than feeling like I’m using an at-home remedy that doesn’t perform like a top of the line product.

#176 leanne on 03.04.10 at 8:41 am

there are no sulfates and other harsh chemicals which can clog pores and irritate the skin.

#177 nomad on 03.04.10 at 8:48 am

The ability to help my body _regain_ its balance rather than throw it off balance.

So many artificial products create a dependence. Most skin creams for example make my skin drier than it was to start, causing a vicious cycle. On the other hand, sometimes our body gets out of balance. Be it for stress, the elements or something else. A good organic product supports the natural healing and replenishment process rather than temporarily imitating well being.

#178 Joanna on 03.04.10 at 8:52 am

that the ingredients are sourced from high quality plants and that they don’t contain parabens or any fillers

I would have to agree with so many others and say it’s all about natural ingredients and how well the product performs. And if it smells good enough to eat … that would be precious!

#180 tracy on 03.04.10 at 9:18 am

What is the most important quality in organic skin care that you would value?
* well making sure that the ingredients are truly organic. i dont want nothing that has been tamperd with some man-made wanna be organic ingredient.
* the way they make it as well. sometimes the things they to all the ingredients to mix them can take the benifits away from many of the ingredient. i try to look for one the will explain how the product was made.
* and how effective the product is to me. i know my skin and i know what things(even organic) dont work for me and what really helps my skin to improve. we all went out looking for the best product out there and spend i dont know how much money just to find out the product really dont do much for your skin or even made it worse. Aaaaahhhhhhhh! yes we all hate that but we still do it. thats why organic things are good they have very little ingredients in it and you can buy each one of them at a health food store and try out each one to see what it is that you cant put on your face and what will help it then go out and look for the product that dont have anything that will bother your skin. yes i know it takes sometime to do all that but it really helps out in the long run.

#181 Jordan on 03.04.10 at 9:18 am

Definately to do what it says it will do. If it says: “Clear Skin in two weeks guaranteed!” Then it better do it! But as acne sufferers all know… It never happens. :(

But I think my real answer is thus.. Doesn’t take half an hour to apply all the steps and lotions. I like simple. ;)

#182 Rossco on 03.04.10 at 9:22 am

That they don’t clog pores like a lot of medications do and are not too drying– have found that natural honey straight from the hive is exceptional in repairing skin damage and scaring– so maybe a product that addressed these issues

#183 Shan on 03.04.10 at 9:28 am

ALL ingredients are identifiable so I know what the product is doing and how. I don’t want to put anything on my skin that I wouldn’t eat.

#184 Cheryl on 03.04.10 at 9:32 am

A product the balances the pH of the skin.

#185 Prerna on 03.04.10 at 9:37 am

“What is the most important quality in organic skin care that you would value?”
I value the natural ingredients the most in organic skin care. I think too many chemicals on the skin can ruin it, and I want to preserve what is natural with something that is also just as natural. Thanks Fran! :D

#186 carly on 03.04.10 at 9:41 am

For me, the most important quality of organic skincare is that it is truly & entirely from the earth and safe and gentle for my body, not just that a certain percentage is so that they can slap “organic” on the label and charge more.

#187 Latha on 03.04.10 at 10:01 am

Oraganic as name suggests should be free of any preservatives and promises to deliver the results .

So far nothing has come near anything that it promises to give ‘ A skin to die for ‘ …

#188 SARA on 03.04.10 at 10:08 am

HEY FRAN!
so im a teenager, and being a teen with bad acne is REALLY stressful! plus balancing my school, work and figure skating training justs adds to the stress, which adds to my acne! I have heard that this brand work really well, and doesnt irritate sensitive skin like mine! but since i have to buy my own clothes and cometics, i simply cannot afford this stuff. the most important value to me would be the fact that while using these products i wont be so concerned with the fact that im putting a bunch of chemicals on my face, and if it were to help my acne…..I WOULD BE THRILLED!

ps. your webby has helped me out alot! those clay masks…AMAZING! :)

#189 Ruthina on 03.04.10 at 10:15 am

I like organic products that have simple ingredients with a little something for moisturizing like almond oil or rose milk. It would be nice to have something that smells good like lavender, rose, or orange. I don’t buy some new products that I would like to try if the bottle is too small, too many products needed, or too expensive to make it seem like something I could put into my budget every month. So, I would rather have a few good quality ingredients in a bigger multi-use container.

#190 Annie on 03.04.10 at 10:22 am

The most important quality i look for in a skincare product is if does not clog pores, many organic skincare products include too many essential oils that can lead to breakouts and clogged pores.

#191 Kathleen on 03.04.10 at 10:23 am

Artificial fragrances are a big one for me. They dry out my skin and make it feel ‘tacky’ (as if there is a film on it). When it comes to organic, it should have few ingredients and ones that you can pronounce.

#192 Patricia on 03.04.10 at 10:27 am

What I value most is the absence of harsh chemicals and parabens and that it works. I believe we can find everything we need in nature to help heal and treat our skin.

#193 AAD on 03.04.10 at 10:53 am

I value the moisturizing quality of organic skincare products because many times after cleansing, my skin feels very dry. I wish that some time soon, I reach a point when I will not have a breakout on my face. I ALWAYS have a breakout, large or small, and it gets annoying. I think it may be because my skin is too dry, even after attempting to moisturize.

#194 siby on 03.04.10 at 11:06 am

That it has no harmful ingredients in it and that it offers lifelong immunity are the most important things I value in organic skin care

#195 Diana on 03.04.10 at 11:09 am

I believe that this world along with its natural resources was born at a level of perfection. Everything that we need to survive, be beautiful and feel great is provided directly from our earth. There is no need for us to elaborate these complex substances to pamper our skin when the answers our being given to us in the most beautiful, natural and inexpensive way, earth:D
Organic is real, let’s forget about being fake and let’s remember that the organic is perfect, and why wouldn’t we want perfection on our skin??♥(;

#196 Haylii on 03.04.10 at 11:21 am

I value the ingredients… I look for products that contain ingredients that are going to work with my own personal skin care needs to give me the results I long for. I love clays, honey, fruit extracts, etc… There is nothing like cleansing your face with ingredients that you feel confident about! =) & Fran, you’ve helped me to better understand what’s right for my skin – thank you!

#197 Michael on 03.04.10 at 11:24 am

The most important quality in organic skin care that I would value would be how well it treats breakouts and how it prevents new one from forming. This is an important quality because you’ll have cleaner skin, so you’ll have a clear complexion. :)

#198 Anne on 03.04.10 at 11:26 am

The moat important besides the effectiveness is the source and high level of organic materials whthin.

#199 Tulsi on 03.04.10 at 11:27 am

Hey Fran,
I probably value integrity and simplicity. And also products which are genuinely natural and truthfully organic (there are a lot of companies which claim they are but aren’t).
Thanks for this!
Tulsi

#200 Alaina on 03.04.10 at 11:36 am

The fact that there aren’t nearly as many harmful chemicals in these organic products allows me to sleep sounder!

#201 Rachel on 03.04.10 at 11:39 am

The most important thing for me is that the products are gentle and safe to use during pregnancy. Essential oils, although therapeutic for the skin are sometimes contraindicated during pregnancy, thus knowing that a product can be used during pregnancy gives me a sense of security.

#202 Sophia on 03.04.10 at 11:53 am

The most important thing for me is that the ingredients are truly natural, and from a reliable source. I also value the fact that ALL of the ingredients are natural. Many skincare brands call themselves “natural” or “organic,” but upon reading the labels, you find that their products are loaded with chemicals and artificial fragrances. What I look for most in a skincare line is that it is TRULY natural and organic all the way.

#203 Klara on 03.04.10 at 11:55 am

Hi there!

As someone who has, thankfully, come to realise the error of damaging, chemical packed but popular skincare brands (through first-hand experience), I now love and highly value organic skincare and am always looking out for quality, natural brands.

For me, the most important quality is the honesty of organic skincare: this includes providing genuine, sourced-from-nature ingredients (essential oils, vitamins, anti-oxidants etc.) which have truly improved the quality of my skin and are great for my confidence!

I love that when I read the ingredients label of a true organic brand I can actually pronounce all the words and understand where the ingredients came from, something I don’t find with mass-marketed brands which tax the skin.

#204 Jonathan :) on 03.04.10 at 11:58 am

When i use organic products it gives me confidence and guilt free beauty. I read alot of these comments and not many people mentioned that organic is good for mother earth, as it is for us! Everyone is beautiful! stay organic <3

#205 Dee on 03.04.10 at 12:02 pm

the most important quality would be that its cost effective. i want to get the most out of my money.

#206 Mary on 03.04.10 at 12:12 pm

I value products that are all natural and not loaded with other toxins that can do more harm in the long run then good. It’s important to me that my skin feels fully nourished while knowing all I used was part of mother earth which was given to us for a reason. Go Organic!

#207 Nabilla on 03.04.10 at 12:15 pm

The most important quality in organic skin care that I would value is the source of the ingredients (i.e. environmentally friendly agricultural process is used to grow the organic ingredients and the waterways, air and other parts of the environment are neither harmed or polluted in this process)

#208 Alice Park on 03.04.10 at 12:18 pm

most important thing that i look for in an organic product is that they aren’t too oil-based. i read the ingredient list containing wonderful things but they all end with ‘oil’ …… (hemp oil is okay) i prefer organic products containing witch flower hazel, rose water, aloe barbendis leaf juice etc..

#209 Katie on 03.04.10 at 12:21 pm

The most important quality would def. be the fact that they are from the earth (no harsh chemicals). It just makes you feel 10 times better knowing your putting something organic on your face!

#210 Kristen on 03.04.10 at 12:22 pm

most important-the product has to be gentle and organic. :)

#211 jasmine on 03.04.10 at 12:33 pm

Natural and certified organic ingredients with no harsh chemicals

#212 Jennifer on 03.04.10 at 12:48 pm

For me it ll comes down to whether or not the ingredients irritate my sensitive, acne-prone skin. The products I looks for need to be balanced and not too harsh, and made from the best quality natural ingredients.

#213 Gabi on 03.04.10 at 12:51 pm

The most important quality in organic skin care is that it not only helps me feel beautiful, but that it’s also helps the environment stay beautiful. We should never be willing to sacrifice our beautiful world for personal gain.

#214 Nick on 03.04.10 at 1:00 pm

89% of 10,500 ingredients used in personal care products have NOT been evaluated for safety. Avoiding these harsh chemical ingredients in the over marketed poison tubes is a key factor in maintaining healthy skin.

I believe our skin is very powerful and intelligent in healing itself, so using organic products allow you to just complement your skin’s natural processes and not burden it with an abundance of synthetic chemicals.

Lets not forget about keeping our planet healthy too, products that use organic ingredients have little or no negative effect on the environment.

#215 sarah on 03.04.10 at 1:04 pm

I feel confident in the organic products, because I know it does not contain any carcinogens. I like knowing that what I am putting on my face does not contain ingredients that may or may not be dangerous to my health and the health of my skin. Go ORGANICS!!!

#216 Megan on 03.04.10 at 1:12 pm

For me, its important that the formula is simple and free from harmful and harsh chemicals. Also, its very important that they do not test on animals.

#217 Christine on 03.04.10 at 1:19 pm

Its reassuring to know that the stuff I put on my face is free from chemicals. I think that your face is the most important place on your body and I would like to treat it with the best. I dont like to think about putting something on my skin that contain nothing but natural ingredients, because if i put it on my skin, my body will absorb it and it will go into my bloodstreem. The skin is a great healer by it self so i like to use organic products to I dont mess up that balance. I really feel and can see the difference on my skin! I also use a lot of home made stuff from the fridge. If you can eat it, then it has to be good for my skin as well!
Trust your skin to do its job without all the harsh chemicals and cleaning. It does work wonder.

#218 Alina on 03.04.10 at 1:23 pm

Honesty. It’s one of the most important qualities of an organic skincare line for me. I need to be certain that products I’m using are what they claim to be. The people behind the product need to believe in their products, use them themselves and want to help people take good care of their skin. I’m tired of uncaring, profit driven companies that lie about how good their products are. I NEED HONESTY so I know what I’m paying for and who I’m buying from.

#219 Christina on 03.04.10 at 1:34 pm

Healing ingredients. Many products formulated for acneic skin contain chemicals and/or ingredients which irritate surrounding tissue. I want to use products that not only promote wellness for my skin, but the environment as well.

#220 Lou on 03.04.10 at 1:34 pm

Definately gentle, with not too many oils. No artificial fragrance, but including organic essential oils beneficial for the skin.

#221 Virginia on 03.04.10 at 1:35 pm

The most important quality in organic skincare is the ingredient(s) – the origins of, and whether or not they do the job i.e. moisturize, tone, nourish, etc. Sustainable and vegetarian products are also a plus!

#222 Janet on 03.04.10 at 1:38 pm

The most important quality in organic skin care that I value is that it will take care of my skin rather than hurting it. Compared to other skin products, organic products do not have inorganic chemicals that make the skin feel heavy! Instead, they make the skin feel nurtured and naturally beautiful. Now, who doesn’t want to feel that way? :)

#223 Laura on 03.04.10 at 1:46 pm

The most important quality of organic skin care is it is from all natural sources and free of chemicals.

#224 Appolonnia on 03.04.10 at 1:48 pm

All natural with little to no chemicals and it has to make my face feel fresh and moisturized

#225 Denise on 03.04.10 at 2:12 pm

I highly value a product that has a significant results in my skin kepping it well nourished and to its upmost condition . I beleive nature can provide for this without additives as chemicals.I have ocassional acne breakouts and am allways looking for products that will minimize them .

#226 Katie on 03.04.10 at 2:25 pm

The most important thing to me is the ingredients. I have very sensitive skin and most ingredients are to harsh for me but organic never gives me any problems. And not to mention, it’s better for the environment! :)

#227 Staci on 03.04.10 at 2:34 pm

that it does what it claims to do and has quality ingredients

#228 Andi on 03.04.10 at 2:42 pm

It is important that my skin care products are free of parabens and are good for sensitive skin.

#229 Phillip on 03.04.10 at 2:48 pm

The most important thing in a natural skin care product for me is just that – natural skin care. Using natural ingredients and having them actually work is very important to me. I don’t mind if they’re not a miracle worker or whatnot, as I’d much rather use something safe on my skin than douse it with chemicals that are going to kill everything on my face – including my face!

#230 Sharon on 03.04.10 at 2:48 pm

Probably something that actually works, made by people who care about the environment and their customer’s skin.

#231 Claudia on 03.04.10 at 3:17 pm

I would like proof that the products actually are organic. “Organic” is the new buzz word and is being used to sell everything from pet food to clothing. How do we know that the product is organic ? It may be certified by a government body but at what standards ? Remember that this may be the same government that is now putting flouride in our water while other countries work hard to ban it. I would like to know just how Organic their organic products are….

#232 Mimi on 03.04.10 at 3:21 pm

Hi Fran! =)
This is my first post on your blog, and so firstly, I’d like to thank you for this wonderful website filled with great information! And now for the contest question…

The quality I value most in organic skin care?
Well, I don’t know if this is a good answer, but…
I’ve been suffering from acne for a long period of time… (parts of middle school, throughout high school, and still suffering from it now)
I have never found anything that would help treat my acne; everything I tried either made it worse or just damaged my skin, making it dry or oily. Then I found out about natural organic skin care… I won’t say it cured my acne, because it hasn’t, but it has helped more than anything chemical I’ve tried… (hoping that it’ll eventually help keep my acne under control)
and so, I guess my answer is… the thing I love most about organic skin care is that it isn’t harsh on my skin and it actually helped my acne instead of doing the opposite! =) I am very relieved to have something that would never make my acne any worse than it is already; not to mention, all the products I use are safe for the environment too!

Btw, I saw your post on cacao powder, and I am excited about trying it out! I absolutely love chocolate :D
It’s ok if I don’t win this, I just want to tell you that your blog has helped me a lot on my journey to finding natural products for my skin. It has also opened my eyes to many things, thank you! =)

#233 kathie on 03.04.10 at 3:23 pm

The most important thing to me is that the ingredients are high quality ORGANIC ingredients. So many products say they are organic but once you actually start reading the label you see that not all the ingredients are organic or even natural at that! I found a new product line I am trying called Suki, http://www.sukipure.com–out of the usa and so far I am loving it!

#234 kricket on 03.04.10 at 3:37 pm

Love and positivity…

#235 Kate on 03.04.10 at 3:51 pm

Not having an OVERLOAD of ingredients – you can have too much of a good thing!! I think it’s important that all the ingredients are distributed in a balanced way too, it’s very important (especially for acne sufferers and fellow sensitive skin types) that nothing is to harsh on our skin. It’s also important that it’s relatively locally made.

Great competition :) !!

#236 Drishya on 03.04.10 at 4:03 pm

The most important Quality in Organic product that i would value apart from been Chemically free had to be the peace of Mind and Body at the same time.
I don’t need to search and spend hours deciding which new brand will work for my skin problems. One simple safe method of Organic approach is the answer to beautiful glowing and healthy skin.

#237 Maddie on 03.04.10 at 4:13 pm

The fact that the chemicals used to kill bugs on fruit and veggies aren’t going to be on my skin. :)

#238 Christina on 03.04.10 at 4:22 pm

Most important is that it is low comedogenic and has pure ingredients

#239 Cassie May on 03.04.10 at 4:37 pm

That the ingredients are fresh and sourced from farms using bio-dynamic and sustainable land principles. Also being fair trade for the farmers and workers.

#240 Abby on 03.04.10 at 4:45 pm

That the ingredients be made all natural(pesticide free)and be the best because that is what my skin wants haha!

#241 Hanna on 03.04.10 at 4:48 pm

Simplicity.

#242 Jennifer Betak on 03.04.10 at 4:48 pm

There are many great merits found in organic skin care: the quality of product, the absence of toxins, and the protection of our natural world. The most important quality I value is the health boost it gives my skin. Organic products are loaded with wonderful nutrients that work naturally with the skin without the harsh residues that come from fertilizers, insecticides, and other toxins which deteriorate the health of our complexion and our natural environment. Processed and inorganic skin products have a reduced concentration of nutrients and often contain harmful by-products. I appreciate supporting organic manufacturers because of their concern for the purity of their products, the well-being of the public, and the health of the planet. Kudos to organic skin care and their lasting effects on good health!

#243 Janet on 03.04.10 at 4:57 pm

They are all natural and will not irritate my skin :-)

#244 Tara on 03.04.10 at 5:23 pm

I eventually learned that you have to listen to your skin. A product might sound really great in concept. It may have wonderful ingredients in it and it might be amazing for someone else. But if it doesn’t feel right on your skin then it’s probably not the right skincare treatment for you. I think that it’s important to listen to your skin and you’ll know when you’ve found the right product because it will just feel right.

#245 melanie on 03.04.10 at 5:29 pm

I prefer natural products because all other products irritate my skin further, not to mention natural remedies are alot more convenient as i can make things from my own kitchen like honey masks or egg whites, but when skin care is natural thats even better for my skin and my wallet

#246 Brittney G on 03.04.10 at 5:44 pm

Chemicals mask problems, they do not heal them. The skin is the largest organ and absorbs just like all the rest. The skin absorbs nutrients, and everything else you provide it. The body cannot break down synthetic materials, so how can it break down the harsh chemicals without harming other parts of the body? It cannot.

The earth provides us with everything we need to be healthy, all the nutrients we need to survive and to heal. And that is why organic, all natural skincare is important to me. Keeping healthy on the outside is just as important as keeping healthy on the inside, it’s all a balance.

I value what the Earth provides to me to keep my biggest, and most visible, organ healthy. And products that use pure ingredients from nature is the highest quality you can achieve. Skincare from nature that not only cleanses, but heals. I am learning that balance is key to keeping the skin healthy, and all natural, organic skincare is the first step.

#247 Nico on 03.04.10 at 5:46 pm

I like it simple and understandable. I like that I can understand what my organic skin care products contains, since I’m sensitve to some ingredients (specially some fillers and artificial fragrance). Besides experience has shown that nature knows best what is good for us, so I’d rather help my skin treating itself instead of forcing it to reactions, which are not natural to it.

#248 Sabrina Bretherton on 03.04.10 at 6:25 pm

All ingredients from our mother nature, without any maniputlation or changes to it. Ingredients from Mother Earth- keeps you healthy and young.

#249 Breanna on 03.04.10 at 6:25 pm

I would value the fact that it is actually organic and does not contain ANY pesticide or other toxic residues. I love it when ingredients have the word organic in front of it because then Im confident I am putting only pure substances on my skin. And my skin deserves the best!
Also, I eat organic so I would not want toxins on my skin as everything put on the skin, ultimately seeps through into your blood. EEwww! And we cant have that!

#250 Fay on 03.04.10 at 6:34 pm

The most important quality for me as a beauty therapist and simply as a consumer is a product that gives RESULTS! Of course, being organic makes a huge difference, if you’re eating great organic food, the same should be topically applied but i am yet to try natural skin care that works! I’m always on the lookout for another natural skin care range that works and this might be it….

#251 Andriana Kursar on 03.04.10 at 6:37 pm

The most important ingredient – blessings!!

#252 Fiona on 03.04.10 at 6:50 pm

That it is effective in meeting my skins person needs and controla acne, as my skin doesn’t react well to many products!

#253 Sarada on 03.04.10 at 6:59 pm

Hey Frann,

Thanks for the giveaway… the fact that I value the most in organic is that it does not contain chemicals. It is pure and also fresh for the skin because our skin is used to chemicals that can sometimes be harsh.

#254 neriza on 03.04.10 at 7:21 pm

what i love about organic products is the a lot of the bad stuff from commercial skincare products are preservatives which gets absorbed by my skin, and circulates in my blood. and that isn’t good. organiz products don’t do that, plus they’re more earth friendly.

#255 christina on 03.04.10 at 7:25 pm

The most important thing to me when I look for organic products is that they are full of active ingredients, not a lot of fillers, however “organic” the fillers may be.

#256 Anna on 03.04.10 at 7:35 pm

The most important quality in organic skin care is its absent level of toxicity. I feel safe applying organic products to my skin (our largest bodily organ) and I feel guilt free washing the remnants of the product down the drain (flowing in the environment). Organic skin care seems essential when I’m making the effort to eat organically and wear clothes made from organic fabrics!

#257 Christina on 03.04.10 at 7:50 pm

The most important thing with any skin product is that it shouldn’t harm your skin in any way. There shouldn’t be any harsh chemicals that can irritate your skin or make your skin worse. Why would you want to use something that has ingredients that you don’t know anything about? All natural is the way to go! Also, cruelty-free products are a HUGE plus!

#258 C. on 03.04.10 at 8:03 pm

The most important thing to me is this adage: “If you wouldn’t eat it, don’t put it on your skin.” I’m a raw vegan, and so that means whatever I put on my skin better be healthy and (in theory) edible!

#259 Belinda on 03.04.10 at 8:44 pm

nourishing results :-)

#260 Cassandra on 03.04.10 at 9:48 pm

The quality in organic skin care that I value most is a short list of ingredients that I understand.

#261 Mieka Louise on 03.04.10 at 11:10 pm

As long as it’s certified organic and ethically made as well as not tested on animals, what’s good for the earth is also good for the skin – that’s the most important quality I value.

#262 Surbhi on 03.04.10 at 11:31 pm

For me, it’d be important that the products be made from sustainable resources and products that support the local economy.

#263 fatima on 03.05.10 at 12:29 am

For me , which is very important it is the fact that it is organic , so it won’t polluate , or create any damage to the earth or to our skin ! and it has a better capacity of healing than non organic products , and healing acne is soo important!
(sorry for my english im french)

#264 Deb on 03.05.10 at 12:51 am

Most important to me is the quality and ingredients. Is it truly organic? I mean lots of companies trick the consumer if they are not aware of what the labels mean. Some can have a label that states “natural” and only have one natural ingredient way down on the list. They say they are more rigorous about organic products, but the consumer still needs to be aware and research. SO most important: It really is organic or natural!!

#265 Kristine on 03.05.10 at 1:04 am

I only use Organics, Non-comedogenic and not tested on animals. I also check where they are made and if it is in a improverished country, some money is given back to that community. Many countries provide us with amazing products while they make very little money back.

#266 Vanessa on 03.05.10 at 1:18 am

The most important quality that I value in skin care products is being able to read the ingrediennts and have them be whole organic food for my skin. For example Coconut oil, essentialoils, aloe, etc. I usually like to think if i would eat it then i will let my skin eat it too!!

thank you!

#267 Mercedi on 03.05.10 at 1:59 am

Most important to me is that the product contains no animal ingredients, or hidden chemicals/additives whatsoever. Also, that the product is 100% animal-cruelty free, and is produced/packaged in an eco-friendly way. For me, choosing natural means living in harmony with the Earth and that means that only good should come of my use of the product, both for my skin and for the planet.

#268 Kelly on 03.05.10 at 2:01 am

What I value most in a skin care line is not actually in the product itself, its in the makers. I value good, honest intentions and devotion to the customers. I want to buy from a company whose main goal is to truly help the customers by providing quality organic products, not to simply make a profit. It is often the bigger, more profiting businesses who use the worst/cheapest ingredients and only have one objective: to make more money. I truly believe that a skin care company who has good intentions and is devoted to their customers will only use the best ingredients.

#269 Todd Dosenberry on 03.05.10 at 2:08 am

Love. There is nothing that is more important then true love. Naturally love yourself for who you are and all those that surround you.

This will make the natural journey to clear skin more simple, less stressful, fun, rewarding, and so many other things.

Hi Fran :)

The most important quality in organic skin care would be the fact that there are no dangerous chemicals in it to ruin my skin or cause acne. I’ve had such a hard time picking something that doesn’t cause my skin to develop acne but then I found one! I bought decubal and it is so good that you can apply it on little babies.

Greetings from Iceland
Lilja

Healthy skin starts with what you put on it. That why to have healthy skin Organic skin care is a must, Believe me I have learned that the hard way.

#272 Christina on 03.05.10 at 3:06 am

Healthy healing ingredients that allow my skin to breathe :)

#273 Christine on 03.05.10 at 3:40 am

For me, the best thing would be no chemicals and how effective the product works. I like to see visible results.

#274 Wendie on 03.05.10 at 4:25 am

Organic skincare is free of all toxins and bad chemicals that should not be used your face, allowing your skin to retain its natural oils and thus help keep the balance of fluids. All natural products do not harm the skin and cause anymore breakouts…and thats wut I love about it. It keeps the purity of my skin alive. ^^

#275 JoAnna on 03.05.10 at 5:21 am

Because of a VERY tight budget, the products have to be inexpensive, and of course effective. Thankfully at least water is free.

#276 Jess on 03.05.10 at 6:11 am

With organic skincare products I can rest assured knowing that what I am putting on my skin contains no chemicals or nasty, toxic substances; everything in an organic product will work WITH my skin and not against it!

#277 Megan on 03.05.10 at 7:07 am

Not having additional checmical ingredients, just organic and natural. As well as cleaning, clearing and not clogging pores.

#278 Zach on 03.05.10 at 7:26 am

To keep it plain and simple, the fact that I can use the organic products without fear of my skin being affected by harmful chemicals in unorganic products. To feel safe and secure helps me believe acne can be cured and that’s something organic products can almost help guarentees

#279 Jamie on 03.05.10 at 8:00 am

The importance to me isn’t only that I am not applying chemical and synthetic ingredients to my skin but also that I am not damaging the environment by 1) funding companies whose practices damage the environment by the chemicals that they use and 2) by those chemicals going down the drain and into everyone else’s drinking water and the earth in general. I believe that by everyone buying organic, and local products as well when possible, we can all send a strong message to these big corporations whose practices are damaging to everyone. (Not to mention they post lies on their bottles and in their ads to manipulate emotional distraught individuals with skin problems to buy their products which i personally still buy into and kick myself every time)

#280 Monica on 03.05.10 at 8:34 am

As simple as this:
That it contains ingridients that work with the skin to heal and are easily absorbed by the skin. I like it simple :)

#281 Perri on 03.05.10 at 8:47 am

Each time I pick up a skincare product I think of the word “NURTURE”.

If it nurtures mother earth and all of its inhabitants (including me) than I believe that it is worthwhile.

In saying that it also has to be effective…

I value simple ingredients that maximize the healing power of nature.

It is also beneficial if it is beautifully presented and luxurious to use as you can not deny the value of ritual and pampering in healing.

#282 melina on 03.05.10 at 9:25 am

feeling good about what i put on my skin! if i feel good, then i my body will more readily accept what im putting on my skin.

#283 Maria on 03.05.10 at 9:29 am

The most important quality in organic skin care is that IT JUST MAKES SENSE. It makes sense that we are part of the beautiful creation that is all around us, and that in it God provided all that we would need for subsistence and healing. As part of this creation, we need to start thinking about and seeing the interconnectedness of all the organs in our bodies and our mind and spirit.

We also need to recognize the POWER that lies in nature and hence in God as its creator. A mustard seed, as small and insignificant as it may seem, has the power of, when planted and nurtured, growing a beautiful and strong tree. If you plant a man-made concoction of chemicals or a super advanced technology on the ground and nurture it, I doubt that it will give you any or the same results. There lies the power of organic natural ingredients in skin care, but also in medicine in general and in our diets. They have POWERFUL nutrients that can heal us and make us stronger.

I value that organic skin care takes this principle into account. More specifically I value when whoever is making the product makes an effort to EXPLAIN to the consumer exactly what ingredients the products have, and the properties (healing as well as possible negative side-effects) of each of these ingredients. I value simplicity and HONESTY.

Thank you very much Fran!

#284 Rachel on 03.05.10 at 9:33 am

Natural ingredients. Ingredients I can look at and understand what they are or even just how to pronounce them.

#285 shelby on 03.05.10 at 9:40 am

It would have to be the fact that there is no persticides which can make their way in through the skin. Also because it is healthier holistically for the user.

#286 Travis on 03.05.10 at 10:27 am

ingredients that not just heal acne but rejuvenate the skin

#287 ali on 03.05.10 at 11:17 am

The most thing to me about organic skin care is that it is pure and healthy. Anything you apply on your skin becomes a part of you and effects your health in some way. I have always felt happier and healthier using organic;-)

#288 Kayli on 03.05.10 at 11:26 am

I value any skin care product that is completely natural and not simply a product of a chemistry lab.

#289 Evette on 03.05.10 at 12:02 pm

The quality I would value the most is the sense of ’security’ a product could give me. Two days ago I went to the mall to go buy some concealer becase I’ve been feeling really insecure about some of my bad scars left behind by the acne and I have horrible dark undereye circles. =/ I was making my way to sephora when a lady in one of the outside stands stoped me so I could try our a nail buffer…I tend to fall very good salesmenship easily and so I went ahead and got it (it had really nice results…I thought I’d just have to buy a cheaper concealor) but then she showed me this face peal scrub (doesn’t that sound pleasant) and said it was all natural. She moved and talked very fast, and before you know it she said she would take 20 bucks off if I took it–but it was never a question; she charged it and packaged it before I could even process the offer. She had repeated over and over it was natural but when I got home (never got to buy that concelor, thinking, man this mask better work) I read the ingredients and saw some that were a bit questionable.

When I used it, I already felt quite paranoid, but I found it to be quite rough on my skin. The next day I broke out horrible (When I looked for the reciet it states I can’t get a refund only exchanges–so I think I will go get more nail buffers n share with the fam)..maybe it was just my paranoia- but I guess that sence of ’security’ comes to me after reading the ingredient list- making sure everything sounds natural and isn’t too hard to pronounce. Another quality I appreciate is ‘freshness’– Sorry for the rant and please excuse any spelling mistakes. =S

#290 Lizzy on 03.05.10 at 12:05 pm

What is the most important quality in organic skin care that I would value? I would have to say the fact that I know I am not contributing to the use of harmful toxins and unnecessary ingredients in skincare products. Knowing that what I am putting onto my face on a regular basis is healthy gives me good piece of mind.

#291 Michelle on 03.05.10 at 12:29 pm

that it is free from any ingredients that would irritate my sensitive skin.

#292 Renee on 03.05.10 at 12:30 pm

That it is good for my skin and can help heal acne.

#293 Sarah F. on 03.05.10 at 12:40 pm

I don’t have to worry about all of the cancers that are linked to the chemicals found in non-organic skincare/make-up products. Also, I appreciate the values that so many organic based companies uphold – no testing on animals!!!

#294 Maeira on 03.05.10 at 1:13 pm

To reiterate what so many others have stated: it is that the ingredients are organic, not toxic and safe for consumption, and preferably grown from rich soil.

#295 Val on 03.05.10 at 1:16 pm

The most important thing to me about any skin care is that it is 100% organic and natural and doesn’t contain any harmful synthetic chemicals.

#296 Tanya on 03.05.10 at 1:58 pm

You’ve probably heard this word 100 times now, but i still must say an organic skin care product or, rather ANY skin care product must be gentile on the skin. The body is amazingly regenerative. A skin care product for acne, which is what i have, should clean the skin, not strip it.

#297 lanie on 03.05.10 at 2:29 pm

Putting something on the skin that isn’t toxic whenever it is absorbed is definitely a plus. Putting something on top of your skin that is actually beneficial to your body when absorbed is even better. How terrible is it that one can have internal health problems caused by their skin “care” line? Organic is clearly the best way to go.

#298 Whitney on 03.05.10 at 4:03 pm

I think the most important quality for me would be using a natural way to clear my skin and cure my acne. I have used many products from over the counter to prescription anti biotics and creams and nothing worked. Recently I was going to try accutane and after months of doctors visits and blood tests and paperwork and then a phone call to my insurance company to only be told I wasn’t covered for my prescription for Accutane I decided to take it as a sign that I was going about this the wrong way. I’m eating healthier, exercising, taking vitamins and taking care of my skin in a organic and natural way. Its nice to know I’m not alone in my struggle against acne and that there are people out there who believe in healing in a more natural manner.

#299 sumire on 03.05.10 at 4:04 pm

Ingredients that work for acne scarring would help!

#300 Marianna Bloxton on 03.05.10 at 4:47 pm

It would be nice that they watched for food allergies, and that it didn’t damage or hurt the skin as you got older, it would always keep your skin healthy with no draw backs.

#301 Kamilla Rasmussen on 03.05.10 at 7:36 pm

To me the most important quality in a skin care product is that is is good for my skin. Is has to be gentle and organic so I do my skin a favour by using the product instead of giving it even more work to do.

so the most important quality is that the product’s quality is high

#302 Naomi on 03.05.10 at 7:46 pm

most important quality is that there is no hidden chemicals and that it doesn’t claim to be organic but then has chemicals hidden in the product.

#303 Mimi on 03.05.10 at 9:04 pm

because i totally agree with you when you say why put stuff on your face that you wouldn’t/couldnt even eat. so i believe going for organic skin care is much better and safer for my skin in the long and all i want is the best for my skin

#304 Hannah on 03.06.10 at 12:05 am

To be feeding your skin, fresh from the earth. not rubbing in chemicals that do more harm than its worth.
To get back to nature, to wake ourselves up!
To make ourselves realise we’re worth the best stuff!
That pampers our souls as well as your skin, that gives us a glow thats pure from within.
That doesn’t cost mother nature, as well as ourselves, to sacrifice our being and our overall health.
To make us happy, right form the core. to give us great skin, is what where asking for! :-) xx

#305 Danielle on 03.06.10 at 12:43 am

The most important quality that I would value would be that there is no harsh chemicals, and that its all organic, and healthy. It will be a very good thing for my sensitive acne prone skin. I also enjoy the fact that it isn’t tested on animals. When I use organic products I feel better on the outside as well as the inside. I want whats best for my skin and even though that I am a raw vegan I still have a problem with my skin and maybe this could be the help that I was looking for. (:

#306 Lauren on 03.06.10 at 1:49 am

For me, I always thought that oil is what caused my acne. So, I was buying drying products that always just striped and dried out my skin and never really helped. I know now, that it’s not just “oil” that actually causes acne and am more comfortable with using products that truly nourish and “feed” the skin. So, I really love natural products that truly give your skin what it wants so it can not only cure acne, but heal and help the overall skin.

#307 Tina on 03.06.10 at 2:49 am

What is the most important quality in organic skin care that you would value?

The most important quality in organic skin care is the natural-ness of the products. Some products call themselves organic, but when I look at the ingredients I see salicylic acid, … The simplicity in that one fact allows me to trust in the product more. That and my skin never got bad until I started using inorganic products. Now I’m going back to the basics to let my skin heal itself. That and the number of ingredients. More isn’t always better, and a simple recipe makes skin care a lot less complicated.

#308 Raymond on 03.06.10 at 3:40 am

Safe to use. 100% natural and chemical-free.

Ingredients that are not only beneficial to the skin but also to prevent breakouts and promote skin rejuvenation.

#309 Dianne on 03.06.10 at 4:22 am

The most important quality for me in organic skin care that I value the most is from the word itself simply ORGANIC that meets its highest quality once produced and surprisingly bring about the pureness and clarity of skin that every person dreams about.:-)

#310 Christina on 03.06.10 at 5:29 am

Organic skin care products are a win-win! They’re great for your skin and work better than unnatural products. Plus, they’re better for our planet making our environment a bit more healthy.

The most important quality in organic skin care that I value is the fact that it delivers its promises!

But more specifically, here is what I’m looking for, in order of importance:

1 – Its effects on my skin (is my skin noticeably better? or does the product cause breakouts?)

2 – Its ingredients (do i understand what the ingredients are? are they natural, organic and safe?)

2 – The price (can my budget afford to spend this much a month -or however long the product lasts- on this product for a long time to come?)

#313 kate on 03.06.10 at 11:54 am

For me, the most important thing in an organic skin care product is that it REALLY is natural unlike most products that are deceivingly labeled as such. My skin is very sensitive, so anything they sneak in may be something i am super allergic to.

#314 nga tran on 03.06.10 at 12:28 pm

i think whats most important in a organic product is that if it actually works because tons of products says is natural and works great but then i buy it and its all a lie so i want to find one that actually works

#315 Lyndsey on 03.06.10 at 1:39 pm

Although being a natural organic product is fantastic, what is important me is that it is natural, organic, AND effective. Just because an ingredient is natural doesn’t necessarily mean that it will benefit the skin so when companies take the time to produce a natural, organic product that actually works I appreciate it! Natural, organic, products are a god-send for people with sensitive skin, like myself.

#316 Pat Li on 03.06.10 at 2:05 pm

When it comes to organic skin care, I value the fact that it contain little pore clogging oil or large quantities of irritating fragrance(which is much more common in organic products because of all the essential oils. It has to be non-animal tested or then it’s just crap to be blunt about it.

#317 Pat on 03.06.10 at 2:07 pm

#318 Kyla on 03.06.10 at 2:47 pm

Skin is our largest organ, and everything that we put on our skin is absorbed into our bodies. Organic products not only smell amazing, but it allows mother nature to make our skin look radiant without the harsh chemicals and toxins in most non-organic commercial products.

#319 wenq on 03.06.10 at 3:12 pm

it’s most important to me that not only is the product organic and good for you, it has to have been proven to shown impovement in skin and to show that it does work plus it cant to really really expensive

#320 Erica V. on 03.06.10 at 3:16 pm

The most important quality in organic skincare is it’s ingredients, knowing it doesn’t contain parabens or possible carcinogens. Knowing I have peace of mind because the ingredients are safe and organic!

#321 Roxana Vega on 03.06.10 at 3:21 pm

The most imporant thing would have to be no fillers or ingredients that can worsen acne or cause premature aging. Who would want acne and wrinkles!

#322 Amber on 03.06.10 at 4:54 pm

The most important thing is that everything is fresh, pure and non-toxic. Ingredients that work with your skin not just to anti-age but to improve and make the skin beautiful with age.

#323 WIG on 03.06.10 at 5:06 pm

Limited amount of ingredients

#324 RKG on 03.06.10 at 5:15 pm

I like to use organic products that do not have harmful substances like parabens. Many products that claim to be organic and safe have harmful elements.

#325 Sanna on 03.06.10 at 5:34 pm

Not too many ingrediensts (I hate the long lists!) and of course the effectiveness on my skin.

#326 AG on 03.06.10 at 6:32 pm

The most important quality that I value in natural skin care is the combination of natural, “conscious” ingredients and effective results in healing my skin. I have realized (from many years and many products) that there is no one product that can heal problem skin completely. Therefore, I value non-toxic skin care that works together to support my skin (and the planet) while I continue to holistically cure my acne.

#327 Mike on 03.06.10 at 7:42 pm

# 1 is ‘The manufacturer uses his organic products himself’

#328 Lauren on 03.06.10 at 7:58 pm

The most important thing is having great ingredients. Skincare doesn’t need harsh, artificial ingredients; simple nourishing oils and plant extracts can be just as (if not more) effective.

#329 Teresa on 03.06.10 at 8:36 pm

Formulation simplicity is most important for me. I find that when a product is packed with too much stuff, even if the ’stuffs’ are natural, it just aggravates my skin more.

#330 Zellent on 03.06.10 at 10:33 pm

I think it has to be certified completely ORGANIC and NATURAL. It should NOT have artificial FRAGRANCE, COLOURING or even TEXTURING. The product should NOT leave the skin DRIED and SCARRED yet able to fulfil its purpose of clearing the skin up SLOWLY BUT SURELY.

The best proof would be the people who created the product have “cured” their skins with their products.

#331 Cathy on 03.07.10 at 12:48 am

That it has nothing artifical.

#332 liquidsun on 03.07.10 at 2:36 am

The best way is to use the organic products or just eat healthy foods for beautiful skin.

#333 Helena on 03.07.10 at 2:36 am

The most important quality I value in organic skin care is if it has been certified to be organic. For example, in England we have the Soil Association which creates a standard that a company/farm has to meet in order for their product to be considered completely organic. The Soil Association considers everything from animal welfare to the use of pesticides and fertilisers to ensure that the product is organic. This is important to me, as many companies sell as their products as organic when clearly they are not, and make money from this.

#334 Helena on 03.07.10 at 2:38 am

Organic products are great! Often products have harsh chemicals in them, like alcohol and artificial fragrances which react badly with my skin! There great for sensitive skin. Also I love how most of them are not tested on animals!

#336 Melani on 03.07.10 at 4:20 am

I like that it has no unnecessary ingredients in it that harm our skin, and how everything is natural.

#337 Kam on 03.07.10 at 4:44 am

The most important thing are the ingredients- the more natural they are the better it is for me!

#338 Jess on 03.07.10 at 5:39 am

no artificial fragrance! :-)

#339 Brandi Koop on 03.07.10 at 6:07 am

The most important quality that skin are products must have too me is an ingredient list that I am familiar with. I don’t want to look at the list of ingredients and not even know how to pronounce the words or not have at least a good guess at what it is or what it comes from. If I don’t know what’s in it, I won’t put it on my skin; and I definitely don’t want to have to most of the ingredients. That could be time consuming.

#340 Eman on 03.07.10 at 6:47 am

Now that I have become more aware of what goes into these commercial skin products knowing they’re being made with natural ingredients would give me peace of mind. Knowing I’m not harming my skin.

#341 Masa on 03.07.10 at 6:48 am

#344 Corrie Alexander on 03.07.10 at 11:17 am

When I hear organic I think, and check for, completely natural ingredients. The value of organic is that I am using something from the earth that was made for me. Not a product filled with chemicals to make things work faster, or preservatives to keep it fresh on the shelves, a product with wonderful ingredients that came from the earth which was made for me. God provided us with everything we need. All we need to do is educate ourselves on which ones are good for us and which are not so good.

#345 Gella on 03.07.10 at 1:04 pm

To me, the most important thing a skin care system could have is to work lol

But really…I would have to say it has to feel luxurious to put on. With no chemicals in it.

#346 Arwen on 03.07.10 at 1:29 pm

The most important quality I look for in organic skin care is that it lets me be me. It’s bad enough when I look in the mirror and see something I feel is not the same as the person I am inside. I don’t want to settle for products that compromise the values of that person as well. A keeper organic product would help me present a beautiful face to the world, while supporting the causes I believe in. This includes using pure, sustainably and fairly sourced ingredients that don’t pose a health risk to the user, being mindful of the environment when mixing, packaging and shipping the product, and testing it on volunteers, not animals.
